I fear I may have left a white Challenger with the older-school blue bar stamp (challenger written across the front) on it either on Chuck D or the 8-hole Picnic course the weekend before last. It's a little beat in, so I'd like to get it back! WYNGAARD is written in sharpie on the back. Thanks!

Only problem with moving 18 into the woods on the right side is the Black Tee for 1 is insanely far. I can foresee most of the big dawgs throwing right into the Red Tee or close to it (if they don't nail it straight). Or even someone from the White Tee just letting go too late and releasing to the right. There is a good cluster of trees though. But I agree, there can be some great shots from inside the woods. Scott R and Mike E thanks for the feedback on the red tees. I just went through them again (in my head) and I think the two holes we want to target right now are 6 and 18. Hole 6 red is kind boring and on sloped ground. I like Scott Ransleys suggestion of moving it to a flat area and having it play over the pond (or around if you want to play safe) from the top of the hill.

Hole 18 red also could change as the hyzer does seem redundant and it there is a lot of opportunity to make a cool ... more

Hole 16 red has been moved recently so you guys can check that out now.

Scott you make good points about making the tee area for the reds visible from the black and white. We will be working with the park to see if we can open up some sightlines to avoid conflicts.

When playing the Picnic Course please be aware that this is SHARED USE AREA. If you encounter other park users on some of the holes please inform them kindly what you are doing, and ask them nicely to let you throw. SKIP THE HOLE if necessary and come back to it later. Other option is to "send a blocker" to deflect shots from hitting other park users. PLEASE TREAT THE OTHER NON-DISC GOLF PARK USERS WITH RESPECT AND CARE. It is a privilege to even have this course and if we screw up then the course could be gone forever.

I only know that when they ripped it out after the tourney last month, they did it at 9am. So hopefully, we should be playing by 11 or 12.

When I originally went & played the Red Tee's earlier this week, my caddy was being a bit of a grump so I had to cut it short. But I came back out Han Solo this morning to review this course Proppa.

The Red Tee's @ Chuck D offer a nice challenge for the newer player or for someone that is a first timer at Indy. Most the holes are a blow out for the seasoned player, but IMO still offer a decent challenge on a number of holes for us. I like a number of the tees and how they are positioned. Hole 3 is near the old White tee, so it's a good distance from the pin. Same goes for Hole 5, and with a section of trees scattered in the middle, you still have to play smart. Hole 6 is probably my least favorite positioned tee. Pretty much an easy deuce, even for the noob. Hole 10 has always been a good hole and off setting to the left of the White tee, continues to offer that challenge shot. I like hole Hole 11 was up, but it was maybe a little too close. I also liked how Hole 17 was tucked into the woods, making you throw straight to come out. All and all a good time, no matter what level of player you are. This is a great way to warm up if you are a seasoned player, getting you nice & loose for either the white or blacks. Cheers

I was hoping they might offer a little different shot variety, so that maybe I would have the urge to play them occasionally as a change of pace. I am not sure that will happen. I categorized the holes into groups as follows:

Cat 2: Takes a good shot by a beginner to deuce. The average player expects to deuce it, but has an equal chance of a par.
Cat 3: Beginner is probably not going to deuce it. Takes a good shot for the average player to deuce it, but most of the time they will par.

I came up with two Cat 1, seven Cat 2, and ten Cat 3 holes, which I think is a pretty good spread for beginners, but maybe a little too easy for average players to bother with. Are you tied to keep the existing whites as the mid tees? There may be some opportunities to use the current white as the red tee, and come up with a new white.

Looking at the shot variations (from a RHBH perspective):

Six holes favor a hyzer, five an anny, and four straight. Two holes are about equally suited to a hyzer and a straight shot, and one favors a hyzer and an anny equally. Again, that is a pretty good mix.

Favorite Holes:
1, 2, 5, 13

Least favorite holes:
9, 17, 18

Individual holes that could use some tweaking:

Hole 4: Tee is tucked in so far that it is not visible from the long tee. This is really just a pet peeve with me to get to a hole, and not be able to tell if there is a group waiting to tee off. This is the shortest hole out there, so I don’t think it would hurt to move it across the fairway.

Hole 6: Not sure you want the tee on the upslope of the hill. I would like to see it moved to flat ground and across the fairway to shoot over the rough near the (now dry) pond. There is plenty of room for people to throw around, instead of over if they want to.

Hole 9: Red tee was disappointing. It is basically a 215 straight shot with a low ceiling. I am biased, because I love the white/black tee on this hole, with all the shot possibilities. Why can’t this be the only hole with just one tee?

Hole 11: Impossible to see people here from the black or white tee. Like the short little anny shot though.

Hole 16: Too close to the rough behind the tee. Not visible from the black. Probably needs to be moved up, but I had a hard time picking a spot that doesn’t interfere with 13.

Hole 17: Again this tee is so far from the others and concealed, it is almost a different fairway. That would be fine if the shot was interesting, but again it is just a 210 foot low ceiling straight shot. You could just move it back onto the fairway, and maybe offset it to the left of the other tees.

Hole 18: You have three holes that require a hyzer through a tight gap between trees. #1 and #13 are great holes. #18 seems redundant. I would rather see a hole that requires an anny through a tight gap, instead of another hyzer.
