Course got some love tonight! Was able to get out there and mow 6, 8, 10, 15, & 16. I'll get 4, 5, & 7 Friday night. That should get the course in fine shape for this weekend!

Please note the change. Things happen. But we want to thank Will Schusterick for working with us! https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=556430967794780&id=384260568345155

Went out and got better sturdier temp. tee signs in place. We will continue with updates as we have things to share. Please remember: Pack it in, Pack it out! A couple of garbage cans are coming soon.
We will be holding a work party soon. Things we will be focusing on: 1- cleaning up excess concrete around tee pads 2- weed eating around tee pads 3- general trimming & course clean up 4- garbage pick up
Thank you Mike! Love LOVE LOVE the course. Going out today after work actually. Wanna join?

Update:
Had a few things that have slowed me down this week, sorry.
But I'll be out Friday afternoon to replace missing tee signs with more temporary signs. (We are finalizing the permenant tee signs now)
Next week we should have the permenant walk out signs in place.
A couple of garbage cans will be installed on the course, also hopefully by the end of next week.
The kiosk has beer delayed. So we are thinking of putting up a temporary kiosk.
And finally the netting to protect the Host Site should be up in the next several weeks too.
Thanks guys! But sadly some are ending up over there and in some cases haven't been really nice about it either.
ugh...how hard is it to say "sorry about that sir!", throw your disc and be on your way?
Ya we just need to spot those cats and just educate them on the DG etiquette.

I wonder if the scores section can be changed to be able to score front nine and back nine.
Ok I understand that I have done that for the oregon state hospital course, but will that show up on the layout you choose when posting a score. The only option you have now is to pick regular tee 18 holes
Ok got it now, will have to update hole distances later on next trip
There will be a drop down box to select a lay out when you go to post a score if there is multiple lay outs recorded to that course.

I just got back from playing the first 9 hole due to the park closing at 9 pm.The first rant I have is with the dumb fucker who are tearing up the temp tee signs and directional arrows signs, and the trash the lazy fucking people leaving beer bottles and trash along the course, People you carried the shit to and through the course at least you could put it in the trash cans, yes those cans with lids on them I know I seen some there. I'm sick of going to disc golf course and explaining to my ... more
Agreed, Mark. Just make it a point to fill any empty spots in your bag with trash (at least that's what i try to do). But, it must be said this is a public park as are most other parks. I find that with even so many like minded community thinking individuals, one transient with a 6 pack of beer can make a pretty big mess.

Wheatland DGC is open again as of 3pm today... A lot of work has gone into clearing rough. Some of the walkout signs have been eaten by critters so I will try to get those temp signs back up asap...
Jason and I were able to put a little more time on course this morning mostly working around hole 6 area. There is still poison oak on few holes and mosquitos are better but still couple areas for them also. It is new course and Oregon so these are few items to deal with for now but will only get ... more
If only folks could see what the place looked like last year when first work was started after a plan started to come together. They might appreciate all the efforts that much more. Take care of a course near you.
Wish I could have gotten out there to help more often. Can't wait to get out there a chuck 'em around!!! You guys kick a$$!!!

"WE BROKE THE TRACTOR - WEEDWACKER WORK PARTY"... This week while mowing fairways at Wheatland DGC the power takeoff on the state parks tractor got sick. So we will have a weedwhacking party Saturday morning from 8am till 10am to clean up a couple areas of rough and some fairways. We will have a some weedwhackers, and goat mowers onsite. If you have equipment bring it! See you Saturday morning!
Yes bring off. I'm wondering the reason I didn't see any was because of the middle of the day. Either way bring bug spray just in case.

Can this course be navigated with a stroller? I take my boy to Keizer Rapids, so if it's comparable to that I figure I should be okay.
Why thank you Brandon! Woods at noon:30 a possibility? Last min decision to meet Dave out there.
Yup there were some trees that made for narrow walkouts but they have been widened the big field fairways will be a lil bouncy but no worse then H16 at Keizer
Jason "Rooster" Bruster July 9, 2014 at 5:31pm
I spent the afternoon out one the course spraying PO and pouring white concrete on the front of the tee pads for foot fault lines and follow through areas on concrete. We just can't catch a break with the weather, too wet, now too hot! The park rangers are holding us off from mowing the rough due to fire danger... Hopefully we can get some mowing done on Hole 2, 4, and 5 early morning and late evenings...
PS... The mosquitoes that were so thick a couple weeks ago at the opening are gone... At least during the day there was none. The heat must be killing them or that main hatch died off.
As usual Jason, stepping up for the cause. Thanks for what you and Mike been doing for the new course. Give a hollar if you want some assist.
Mike Wilson July 9, 2014 at 9:01am
The course will be open for this weekend. If sooner we will post.
THE "BEAST" OF THE WOODS July 8, 2014 at 8:58pm
Why did cap city move dubs? Is the course not going to be open this Sunday? If not we need to know soon as 3 other leagues are scheduled there this Sunday.
Wheatland will be open this weekend of the 12th of July
Mike Wilson June 27, 2014 at 12:12am
We are currently pulling baskets at this time in preparation for Civil War reenactment which begin this weekend.
We will post announcement as soon as course is reopened!
Jason "Rooster" Bruster June 25, 2014 at 8:06am
Baskets are going to be pulled at Wheatland DGC June 26th Thursday afternoon. They will be replaced on or before July 12th for an annual Civil War Reenactment.
Our goal in this down time will be getting a tighter cut on the grass since this first cut was from 4ft tall grass. Cleaning up rough on Holes 2, 4, 5, and 6. We hope to have OB lines marked out on the RIGHT side of holes 4 & 5 and LEFT side of hole 7's fairway. We are limited on the clearing of those rough areas, so consider ...
more
Thanks for all your efforts and let me know if you want any help over this period of time with any of it
Jason "Rooster" Bruster June 24, 2014 at 7:03pm
The feedback from the State Park staff has been positive... With the exception of some discs being thown into the camp host site (100+ft off the fairway)... Lets use a lil common sense and be good roll models of our sport.
I went out yesterday with the goat and and a backpack sprayer. Hole 4 and 5 were spot sprayed with a hot batch of herbicide for poison oak. The Goat cleared out a large area on hole 4s left side around the big fir tree and such. We are lucky yo have the full backing from Oregon State Parks... It will help tune this course up in a matter of months!
The Wheatland Crew is a great group doing local disc golf a huge service building this course.. Less than 30 minutes from Portland and well worth the drive.
Silas Prince June 23, 2014 at 9:48pm
Hey all! I want to play the course on Monday, June 30th. Anyone want to carpool and play a round or two? I'm open most of the day.
I believe the course will remain open till wednesday evening, then close for civil war reenactment over the 4th. I believe will reopen to public play on the 8th.
Me my brother in law and cousin will be there at 330 if you wanna join up!!
Mike Wilson June 22, 2014 at 10:01am
Our next goals include spraying of poison oak, back filling around tee pads, getting tee signs in, & adding garbage cans (possibly a bench or two too).
Mike Wilson June 22, 2014 at 9:45am
All of us want to "thank" all of you that came out to play this new course on opening day! Hope everyone had a great time and liked what they saw. We will continue to improve the course & maintain it too!
You guys did a fantastic job.!!!! Fun round on a course that is a lil rough but its BRAND NEW and its kick ass to play. A little time and people playing it will make it a supreme destination for disc golf. Thanks for the awesome time!!
Good job Mike and big thanks out for course maintenance.
