Hey guys, With the current season and championships over I would like to get started on the next one. If anyone has any points events ready to schedule for the fall please send them my way so I can post them on the website as well as plan my events around them. During the fall I would like to just bring my group to other clubs events as it's easier for the schedule and just host my own in the spring since we host on Sundays. I look forward to another great season of golf with you all and co ... more

Heads up all. The MIDGC Finals has been moved from April 26th to April 27th. Still at Big Bend Park. Registration at 9:00, tee off at 9:30. $300 book scholarship on the line as well as the Bulldog Tag Challenge. MDGO Berths will also go to the top 3 student points winners.
Randy Gallagher February 6, 2014 at 9:01pm
For those of you attending the event at Chippewa Banks there will be a MDGO State Finals berth given away on behalf of Black & White. The golfer that scores the most Match Play Points at the end of the day will win the berth and be invited to the Michigan State Finals over Labor Day. Any ties will be decided by the amount of birdies in the singles round. The golfer must be a member of one of the 8 sanctioned MiMPA clubs to be eligible.

Attention all disc golfers there will be a MiMPA championship berth being given away at the March Black & White event at Hudson Mills on March 23. Upon winning this berth you will be invited to the MiMPA Championships that are being held in Mt. Pleasant, MI.
Eligibility:
The player must be a registered member of one of the listed clubs on the MiMPA clubs page (winning player will be verified before receiving the award). If the player isn't a registered member they may pay the Black ...

Seeking ideas on how to 'score' the matches in the Championships as part of the Club Competition. Because the plan is to 'seed' all club players randomly into separate 'regions' to ensure that no two club players would play each other until the round of 8, one way to score the first two-rounds would be to award each club 1 point for each match won.
Should the rounds of 8, 4 and 2 be scored differently? Is one point for each round be the fairest way to determine t ...

Leonard I think your over thinking the Club Championship. let the chips fall where they may. for that. I agree you could make the first two rounds of match play of equal value. But I would make them 2 points each round. Which means all club players will get points from those rounds
You can give a bonus point for a win in those first two rounds
Think I worked it through.... Posted details on the FB page.

I'd like to get a write up for the 2014 Championships on the website so people can see it. Does any have the details?
Any other championship information like for the 2015 year would be good too. The more information the better.
We should put on the page the spreadsheet of the berths to be given out and then fill it in as we go.
You might also put in there that we would like to expand the number of member clubs to 12 for the 14-15 season. Once we get to 12 clubs, then each club would have 2 berths, the singles winner gets a berth and the other 7 go to top qualifying points earners.
Our members will be meeting in MtP on Friday night to draw matches for the next day (probably in a suite at the Soaring Eagle!), then again on Saturday night to conduct business for the coming year INCLUDING reviewing bids to host the 2016 Championships! You could note somewhere on your site that the 2015 Championships will be held at Meyer Broadway the last weekend of June, 2015.

Earlier we were having a problem with the site, I found out how to fix it today.
Now we have the upcoming events on the front page as well as the page links to the leaderboard here. Very odd problem it was having.

Are there any dates that need to be added to the calendar?
Scott did one today at sauna tuck and is pretty sure he will do one on nov 16 at Hammond hill, I think
Randy Gallagher October 19, 2013 at 4:31pm
We're going to Burchfield for two rounds tomorrow morning if anyone is interested. Match Play points can be earned at this one.
Randy Gallagher October 11, 2013 at 7:56pm
To anyone interested in earning more Match Play Points for the championships please feel free to golf with Black & White. We golf about once a month and there is no buy in.
For dates visit the MiMPA website or BWI website
mimatchplay.org
bwcreate.org
Scores will be updated here but dates will not be shown on DGS.

Format for the championships. If we send players out in two-somes and play strict match play--picking up and moving once a hole is decided--might allow us to play three 18 hole rounds the first day rather than beginning with back-to-back 12s. What think you all? We could set this up so that the four players in the same region would begin within one hole of each other so that the second match (WvW and LvL) begins immediately following the conclusion of those two matches. And, finally, because the ... more

Thoughts on scoring the championships. President's/Ryder Cup format whereby each club gets one point for each match win. The team with the most points at the end of the championships wins the team championship and gets their MiMPA dues paid for the next year.
The only question would be how many players each team can 'score.' Scott is in favor of having that number be the same as the # of berths each club is allowed. Therefore, Summer '14 - that would be 3. If a team cannot find three to represent, however, that would be their loss.
Leonard Johnson October 10, 2013 at 5:27pm
Thoughts on the team championship. Each founding club may identify a maximum of 4 scoring players during the tournament. Those players will each be randomly 'seeded' in different 'regions' guaranteeing that no two players from the same club will face each other prior to the round of 8. The three players each club would 'berth' in will be at the discretion of the club. The 4th player would have to be one of the 7 qualifiers, or the returning champion. For example, if ... more
problem is what if I my 4th doesn't get in My team is then handicapped by only having 3 players
not bad though having clubs compete to make sure they can get in that 4th player....might increase participation at our events.
Leonard Johnson October 10, 2013 at 5:20pm
Thoughts on 'sanctioning' events. Each of the founding clubs may host one sanctioned event per month (meaning points earned there go toward qualifying). Events must be announced at least 30 days prior, and include a minimum of one 18 hole round (doubles or singles) and a maximum of two 24 hole rounds (one doubles, one singles). No events may be scheduled after May 31, 2014.
I would agree here, one thing I would say though and I guess it caters mostly to my club is the fact that we should use mimatchplay.org as the official calendar
Unless someone would want to transcribe that calendar here?
That would be cool. Put in your dates, Scott's dates and the MIDGC dates and all others. I'll ask all club contact people to send their dates to you. Then, if scores are note posted and 'linked collaboratively' here, they'd need to send Scott the scores to be added to the Qualifier points list.

The plan is to take a vote (either by email in advance, posting here in advance or in person) on Saturday, September 14th following the Great Lakes Collegiate Open held at Blue Gill. Running concurrent with the collegiate matches, Club Dead will be hosting the first match play event of the season. Students will tee off at 9:15 and play 24 holes, we will tee off at 9:30 and play 18 holes. Lunch will be served on site.
I will post a suggested 'slate' to be voted on well in advance of the event. Stay tuned.
Leonard Johnson July 4, 2013 at 4:41am
What do you all think? All clubs committed as in -- not necessarily paid -- by Sept. 1 will have 4 votes. Vote to adopt should be concluded by Sunday. Sept. 8th?
Leonard Johnson July 4, 2013 at 4:13am
Remember...each club to commit will get 4 votes on the Constitution. I'm thinking we should solidify commitments and vote to adopt by sept 1..... Other thoughts?
Leonard Johnson July 3, 2013 at 6:07pm
Assuming 12 founding clubs, each club would be guaranteed 2 berths to the 2014 Championships making 24. The other 8 berths to fill out the field would go to the top individual points earners in the MiMPA series (of which the MIDGC will only be a part). Format/Payouts for the 2014 event might then look like this:
1st: $1,000
2nd - 500
3rd - 400
4th - 300
5th - 8th - 100 each.
All 16 one-match winners would receive $25.00
24 player dubs held Sat. (after two back-to-back 12 hole match pl ...

We also need to identify all clubs and individuals committed to being part of the founders group, and schedule a meeting for the purpose of formally adopting the constitution. So far, the following clubs will be part of that group: Big Rapids Disc Golf, Friends of Newaygo State Park, Battle Creek Disc Golf, Black & White Interactive, and Club Dead Disc Golf. Likely additional clubs/individuals are Bluegill, Mt. Pleasant Disc Golf and then clubs or individual memberships coordinated by Tate H ... more
I am thinking of two MIDGC events in the Fall.... And will check the MDGO calendar before confirming. But, either Sept 28 or Oct 12 at Oshtemo, and then Dec 7 in Big Rapids. I'd like to cohost an event w MtP late oct early nov at Deerfield.
