About this tournament
One Thousand Dollars Cash to the Winner!
This year, we have expanded the field to (up to) 32 players. The Championships will be held on the two 18-hole courses at Northend Riverside Park, in Big Rapids.
This is a bracket-style, match-play event. During the first 18-hole round, each of the up to 8 initial foursomes in the field will play three, 6 hole matches in order to produce one winner with each player playing one 6 hole match against the other three players in the foursome. If a match ends in a tie, each player wins one point. If one player wins, s/he wins two points. After three matches, and a total of 6 possible points, the player having won the most points moves on to the Great Eight. If a tie exists for first, those in a tie will play sudden victory until one winner.
In the event we do not reach the ideal 32 players, threesomes will play all 18 holes where players earn 1 point on each hole played for each player in the threesome beat. The player with the most points after 18 holes moves on to the Great Eight.
The brackets for play will be set at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, June 23 at the Gypsy Nickel, by random draw, conducted in a way so as to ensure that the players from all member clubs (who are guaranteed 3 players for their MiMPA $100 membership fee), will be randomly 'seeded' into different regions of the bracket.
Stay tuned! More details on the Finals to come!!
