As described in the DFOK News from the June 27th meeting, today was our clubs day to mark the approx. locations (50' +/-) for our proposed improvements. These locations/improvements includ the following:
- All 18 tee box locations. However, only 11 tee boxes will be built by RL County this time around.
- All basket locations, including alternate pin placements.
- The practice basket (19th basket on the course).
- The Main Sign.
Keep in mind this is only part of the pre-construction investigation process know as a "utility locate", aka Dig-Safe buried utility marking. These are general locations, within 50', of where we want to install equipment. Plus if needed, the utility locate companies will come out to re-fresh their old marks, or even mark areas not previously marked.
While playing the Fairmont Disc Golf Course, you will now notice many wooden "laths" with orange tape on them indicating the areas described above. Please do not hit with discs, or tamper with these pieces of wooden lath, as we want them to stay in place for a quite while now... maybe until we get the new equipment installed.
Note: There may be a few more alt. pin placements marked (15) than we can afford at this time, plus a few better pin placements may become evident in the coming weeks. When combining those factors with the currently unknown buried utility impacts, the exact pin placements are still a work in progress.
Thanks again for your patience. You should start to see some signs of construction pretty soon, although an official date has not been set.
