Kevin Jacobs  › 2024 Zephyr World Championships   July 12 at 11:28am

Due to unforeseen circumstances this year's tournament is moving to Browns's Farm, a fantastic private course about 45 miles south of Buffalo NY in South Dayton NY. This course was originally designed by Granddaddy Brown with assistance from former WNYer John Houck, and is best known as the longtime host course for the Can-Am Cup team match-play tournament. The course address is 8744 S Dayton Silver Creek Rd. South Dayton NY 14138. Coordinates: 42.38106° N, 79.06860° W

This course is beautiful, and Zephyrific, and will be in full autumnal glory in mid-October. However, Zephyr-veterans please note that this is not a short, flat, all par-3s course like we've used previously. Brown's Farm is situated on a hill with elevation changes in play on a number of holes, and includes par 4s & 5s. Due to the course's length, I will be creating a Zephyr-friendly layout utilizing the existing red (shortest) tees along with some provisional Zephyr-appropriate (even shorter) tees. It will still be mostly par 3s, but I expect to have a few holes that will play a little longer to test everyone's Z-arms a bit. Please note that even with the short modified tees, there will be more walking required of players than in previous Zephyr Worlds, but the fun-factor here is extremely high! New Innova Discatcher baskets were recently installed throughout the course!

The property owner, our gracious host Rex Brown, has informed me that camping will be available onsite for the Friday and Saturday nights of the tournament weekend. (Oct. 18-19). The cost is $20 per person, per night. Leave nothing but footprints - burnables may go in the bonfire pit, and recycling containers will be available at the cabin for cans and bottles. This is no-frills camping, but there is a swimming hole and two port-o-johns along with lots of stars at night. Very peaceful.
Please contact me via email or through the tournament page if you intend to camp so I may give Rex an idea of how many to expect. Payment for camping may be made to Rex upon arrival.
FTR - All tournament greens fees ($5/player) will go to support Rex and the Farm.

With the new venue, I will be focused on making sure the course is ready for the championship. Therefore, unfortunately I will not be offering WFDF Accuracy this year. If everything runs well and the new venue is a success, I'll attempt to have an Accuracy course established at Brown's Farm in time for next year's Z-Worlds. I will be processing refunds to those already signed-up for Accuracy ASAP.
Amateurs note that payouts will now be made in cash $$$ rather than in merchandise.

Open registration for the remaining spots in the tournament begins Friday July 12 @ 7:00 PM.
Any additional information regarding the event will also be posted on DG Scene as it emerges.

I look forward to making this the best Zephyr Worlds yet.
Contact me with any questions or concerns - or post them on the DG Scene tournament page and I'll respond ASAP.
Thanks again for your support of this exciting event!
I look forward to Zephyring with all of you soon.
Best wishes.

Thanks or the update KJ. With the sponsorship, are we able to send over artwork for a sign of any kind?
