TOURNAMENT ANNOUNCEMENT:
Hey all,
As you probably know at this point the weather forecast for next weekend is looking... well... cold at best. Depending on which weather service you use, the lows are anywhere between 8-18 degrees and the highs are between 20-32 degrees.
What does this mean for us? Well, as we are renting the golf course, the bottom line is, if the ground is frozen, we will not be allowed on it. Due to how shortly cut the grass is at golf courses, it is very sensitive to being walked on while frozen. This is why golf courses often have "frost delay's" during the winter time for their golfers.
We also want to make sure people playing the event can safely get to the tournament. The forecast is showing snow at least Friday and Saturday with the possibility Sunday and Monday as well.
We know this is Oregon and the forecast can change very quickly, we are not pulling the plug on hosting the Santiam Open next weekend just yet. We are going to give it until Monday of next week and at that point I will get on a phone call with the golf course ownership and we will make a decision.
If for some reason we can not play on Sunday the 14th as scheduled, the event will be moved back two weeks to the 28th. We understand this may make some hardships for players and as such, if you are signed up and can't make the new date, you would get a full refund. We will post more about how this will work if necessary next week.
First, lets keep our fingers crossed that the forecast gets better and we can play next weekend. But if we can't, just know we have been in contact with the golf course multiple times this week to make sure we have a backup plan in place. One way or another, the 2024 Santiam Open is happening! We will make sure of that.
Thanks,
Scott
