Aubrey Hughes  › Cold Garden's Limber Open 2023   September 1, 2023 at 4:23pm

Hi, everyone!

We are so excited to welcome you to Cold Garden's Limber Open 2023! This year we will be playing at both WJ Homestead and Lloyd Park. We couldn't have planned this without out the amazing support of our community, so thank you!

This also couldn't have happened without the support from our sponsors. Cold Garden Brewing was a hug part of making the expansion of the tournament this year possible. Thank you so much to them for all they have done and are doing to provide an amazing experience for all the players! Thanks also to our additional sponsors: Medicine Hat Meat Traders, Hornby Organic, Lucky's Speed Sauce, VHF Coffee, Kevin Bernardin of Grass Roots Realty, The Alberta Beer Fest, Tuesday Brewing, PDGA Canada, and the CDGC. Make sure to check them out for awesome local products and services and keep our community thriving!

And, of course, a huge thank you to Tim at WJ Homestead and the crew at Lloyd Park for allowing us to use their spaces for this event. We are truly lucky to have two beautiful courses so close to use!

We are only two weeks out from the tournament, so here are the cold hard facts you need to get prepared:

As the tournament is at two different locations come prepared to transport yourselves between. If possible, please carpool to WJ Homestead as parking can get tight if everyone arrives individually. We have access to the Red Deer Lake School parking lot beside Lloyd Park so park here for the rounds at Lloyd or as a staging area to carpool to WJ as there is not enough space inside the Lloyd Park area for all the vehicles.
Player check-in is at Limber Disc Golf. Head on over on Friday to pick up your player's packs and check-in with the crew. This is to help with the early morning on Saturday. If you absolutely cannot make it to check-in, please make it to the course that you have your first round on early enough for us to check you in and mark you down as attending. Player's packs that are not picked up on Friday will be available at Lloyd Park on Saturday after the first round. There will be additional jerseys and discs for purchase at Limber and Lloyd Park during the event should you like to grab some extras.
There will be two player's meetings: one at the start of each round on Saturday. This is to help give everyone a little extra time to get to the courses. We will go over the OB and any course rules at the meeting and answer any questions you have at that time.
Everyone will play one round at WJ Homestead and two rounds at Lloyd Park. The second day will have two start times at Lloyd: one for each pool. Due to the number of signups, some amateurs will play at the same time as the pro field. The divisions and where each group start is posted on DiscGolfScene. It will also be published to the PDGA website for the start of the tournament.

On Saturday night Cold Garden and Limber Disc Golf are hosting Stay Limber With Cold Garden! This event will have live music, a beer garden hosted by Cold Garden, and an evening round of Stay Limber all at Lloyd Park. The concert is included in your registration fee! Invite your friends to come watch you play and hang out afterwards for a beer and live music! If you would like to participate in the evening round, tickets are available for an additional cost. All the details can be found on EventBrite here.
CDGC will be on site at Lloyd Park selling Hamburgers and Hot Dogs from 11-6 on Saturday! All proceeds will go to the club and helping grow the sport we all love.
Practice rounds will be available at WJ Homestead on Friday from 9:10AM to 6:50PM tee-offs. If you are already a member, you can book your round through the online portal. Non-members, please contact Tim Driedger at [email redacted] to book a time. There is a fee for non-members of $5.
Please be aware that smoking and alcohol is prohibited on WJ's property. If you need to smoke, there is a smoking space in the parking lot. Thank you for keeping the course clean and open for everyone to use!
We are looking for volunteers! For those on the waitlist, if you'd like to still be involved in this year's event and aren't sure you'll make it in, we would be grateful for any help you may be able to offer! There is a signup page on DiscGolfScene where you can let us know when you might be available. We will have a gift for all the volunteers as a thank you for helping create an event that is all that it can be!
Finally, refunds: If you need to withdraw from the tournament and would like a refund, please do so before Wednesday, 13 Sept. All registrants will be considered committed after this time. If you don't make it to the tournament your player pack will still be available to you and can be picked up at Limber Disc Golf. For everyone on the waitlist, refunds will be processed at the same time that the registration list is frozen.

We look forward to seeing everyone out at the event! Thank you again for the massive support. It's going to be a great weekend.

If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment on DiscGolfScene or send us an email!

Cheers,

Aubrey, Taylor, and the crew
