Just considering the night of the week for Sanford's League, possibly moving from last year's Monday time to Friday. What are your thoughts ? Does anyone know if Wickes Woods is planning on Monday again this year ?
And how many would participate in a PDGA singles league ?
The bag of goodies from the donated ace pool will be distributed in various ways Saturday... 4 discs (champ Teebird, J-bird Z-Nuke, 2007 CCR Open Buzzz, 2010 "Speak No Evil" Buzzz), many stickers ("Insane for the Chains" Bell's Brewery, Innova), free Mr. Hot Dog T-short, many minis (glow, and one from NE Ind Matt "Homie" Lovasky memorial, one Discraft Christmas mini), a beer beach bum package (growler from Midland Brewing Company, 3 lb. cozy and beach ball for ... more
We're planning on food between rounds on Saturday, grilled hot dogs and some side dishes. Respond in the talk section if you plan to be there so he have enough. In a little bit, I'll post the extensive list of goodies to be unloaded from the donated ace pool. Most of it is listed in previous announcements below.
End-of-the-year get together on Sat. Nov. 3 starting at 11am. Should be good to get a round of singles and a round of doubles in before the clocks change. More details as we get closer.
Tame the Jungle @ Sanford will not have organized league play until 2013. Until then................this course is still highly maintained by the good folks with Midland County Parks. No fees until next April so make sure and put Sanford Lake Park on your agenda!...Grip it n'Rip it!
We are the "Highlighted League" tonight for the 2012 Michigan Co-operative Point Series (MiCPS). This means everybody who plays gets double points in this fun co-op way to link leagues across the state. And we also may have some visitors coming in to play. So come on out ready to have a nice evening of disc golf at one of your favorite courses with some of our regulars and hopefully some people new to the course or our league.
The Bay City chapter of the Disc-Ciples has 4 MDGO State Berth Packages to distribute. They'll be awarded to the top 4 in one open division on Friday, June 15th based on two rounds: one straight, the other Cali banking 1. You can do your two rounds ANYTIME between 10am and dark!
QUALIFYING: This will be open to people who have played the Monday night Sanford doubles league at least TWICE. Look for a tournament listed soon on the scene for cash-less pre-reg. We'll need at least 10-15 ...

There's not an amount listed because there isn't cash in the ace pool. It's all made up from donations of merchandise. Plus everybody who plays is automatically in the pool! The stash has grown to include 4 discs (champ Teebird, J-bird Z-Nuke, 2007 CCR Open Buzzz, 2010 "Speak No Evil" Buzzz), an "Insane for the Chains" bumper sticker, free Coney Dog from Mr. Hot Dog, 2 minis (a glow, and one from NE Ind Matt "Homie" Lovasky memorial), and a beer beach ... more
Midland has raised the fee for Sanford Lake Park......non-residents pay 10.00 to drive in.......ouch!......Non-resident yearly pass is 50.00. Those of us with a pass are willing to ferry folks in if they want to park at the rail trail parking lot(1/2 mi. out). Contact Sully, Jeff, or Fred for ride info.
No league today, April 16th, due to high winds. Starting time for next Monday has been moved to 6:00 pm by popular demand. See you then!
The park takes great care of this course, so there's no need to keep any money for course improvement. So it'll be 100% pay-out. And the Ace pool is going to be FREE! A wondrous array of cool stuff will accumulate from donations over the season. So far we have a sweet Champion Teebird disc, an "Insane for the Chains" sticker, a mini, and a Midland Brewing Co. "growler" jug for the first ace thrower to fill. So bring whatever you'd like to donate to the ace pool...or not. Everybody who plays gets in the ace pool for FREE!!
Entry fees will be taken starting this weekend and the next league on April 16. It's rather pricey, especially if you're not a county resident. But other options are to get a sticker for the season (a bargain if you come to the course more than 5 times), or carpool from the Rail Trail lot at the intersection of Smith & W Saginaw/Railway & N 7mile. The lot's also just a nice half mile stroll from the park, too.
We're part of the Summer 2012 series! Smaller leagues get boosted points in the new tiered system. Come and get some!
BE THERE
yes they plan on doin g it on mondays again. I did a singles handicap league last year on fridays in saint charles and would get anywhere from 8 -12 people
Due to a job change, I may not be able to make many nights at Sandord this year. Monday would probably work better for me, however like I said I will be very hit or miss regardless.
Not alot of luck drawing players on Mon. I'm all for trying Fri.@ Sanford.
I'd be able to do more Fridays than any other day...can't think of a better place to play on Friday night!
i will do sanford on friday, i never liked the monday night for some reason.
I would make a Friday every once in a while...I think.
It's looking like Friday may be the day. How many people are interested in a PDGA Handicap singles league, maybe having the option to play before doubles every week ? I was thinking that this could take place Wednesdays at Freeland as well as prior to Sanford League ???
Never played handicap singles.........How would it work?
If its a PDGA league, then all players would have pdga ratings. A handicap can be figured from those. You can check out the PDGA league program at http://www.pdga.com/leagues . I'd be curious to know how josh did them before.
