No leagues tonight do to the rain and I have to work!
first week out and Jakkob & Alex beat the lowest recorded Friday score of 50 by 2 strokes. nice shooting !
tee off at 5:30 is the official start of doubles. Tony Mapes has stepped up to take over registration, payout and weekly duties, thanks Tony. No league fee, $1.00 ace pool, 100% payout and free CTP's as donations come in. $10.00 gate fee per car or $50.00 annual. Park and walk in is always an option, there is a rail trail parking lot 4 or 5 blocks away.
***participating in the 5th anniversary of the Michigan Cooperative Points Series***
The park has started taking their gate fee, hours are being extended as the weather gets more suitable for later evening visitors. May 9th will be the attempt at our first evening for the 2014 season, 5:30 at first and moved to 6:00 as the closing hours extend until 9 and beyond. League has been collecting $1.00 toward ace pool throughout the winter singles rounds played on Friday. The ace pool stands at $50.00 and will carry over. There still may be some Friday single or doubles played prior to ... more
Celebrate the wrapping up of another season of disc golf by playing the Jungle. We're keeping some of the cool team prizes for next season, but the rest of the ace pool (cash, discs, t-shirts, etc.) will be divvied out this Friday, Oct. 18. The format will be determined depending on who shows up at 11am. A grill will be present, so bring something that suits your appetite. The tradition of sharing some community food is also likely.
A 1:00pm show up time would be way more doable have to work in morning and then an hour travel time
i will be there at 11, but i do agree that 1pm would probaly pick up a few more players.
suppose to rain sat and sun. looks like friday may be the day to be out boys.
Due to the increasing darkness of late September, Tame the Jungle @ Friday Doubles league has been shelved for the remainder of the year. That being said, the park is now free to enter till next April and plays all winter long. We still have a huge stash of goodies to distribute, so likely we will have a party sometime in mid-October to empty the bag. Thanks to all you who joined us this year and we look forward to a banner year in 2014. See ya then!
Jeff Bonn took the cash CTP on hole 1 and also won a disc with drive 18' past the basket on hole 17. Curt McGill landed it on hole 7 to also take home a nice disc. The low doubles league record of 50 was tied so there's still a prize to the first pairing to score under 50. And there still have been no birdies on holes 3,5,12 or 18 to win the FINE disc donated by Fred McGill. thanks for donations this week include but are not limited to Matt, Jim, Fred, Jeff, Lance, Craig, Josh, the Park Staff and rain gods.
Thanks go out to Lance Anderson for the fine disc donated for the CTP on hole 1 last night. Senior Grand Master Fred "Up Hill" McGill parked hole 1 to win the disc and then did the same on hole 15 to win the cash CTP for the night. Next week the cash CTP is back to hole 1. Another donation of two Discraft minis will go to the team that has CTP on hole 9. Yes, all next Friday, rain or less rain !!!
I am down, but i might be dressed like the morton salt girl next friday. still drying gear out, lots of it.
The Jungle at Sanford Lake Park is of the rain forest type of Jungles !
last night's weather forecast was "rain starting near the lunch hour and continuing through early evening". Jungles are normally wet, aren't they ? RAIN OR SHINE, extra CTP's as usual, prizes for anyone beating the 50 low score. Come early, play late. The ace pool is building with donations from visiting players, $15.00 plus oodles of merchandise, as of today...
July 26 at The Jungle was again plagued with rain that started while teeing off on hole one and continued until we all drove out of the parking lot. A big thanks to James Josh Russel for the donation of two CTP's prize packages, both won by Lance Anderson with great drives on holes 6 & 7. So far this year, evey player that shows up weekly has donated prizes for CTP's or the Ace Pool. A HUGE thanks to all. Next week the cash CTP is on hole 15. And there are still special prizes to w ... more
Due to severe weather this Friday we will have two HLW as Tame The Jungle @ Friday Night Doubles will be playing for double points as well as 2013 Friday Night Discin @ Stony.
Don't miss out on all the great Michigan disc golf leagues and get you some double points..
Increase your odds to compete in the Discraft Michigan Disc Golf Championships:
We will have a make-up day for double points sharing the Highlighted League of the Week on July 26.
tough competition ended the Sunday Doubles Tournament with a new doubles course record of 46, 13 strokes under course par. The great score card turned in by Tom & Tony Swarthout revealed all twos and threes, check the pics.
One HUGE cloud directly over Sanford Lake cooled off the hot round Clark S and Matt F were having going into hole 6, all 3's to that point. The rains nearly flooded the pavilion where 6 players took shelter from the UNBELIEVABLE rain until from no where, out of the cloud came Jakkob Lammi to shuttle all players back to the main parking lot. One Free League play Mr. Lammi. buckets of thanks from everyone
ok man, do you want to meet at the park and ride at the trailtrail at 12:20ish?
9 under par 50, that's the new doubles low score to beat. Winning team gets 2 NICE discs, pictures to be posted soon, keep an eye out and make plans to try your best to TAME THE JUNGLE !
way to shoot to Craig and Tom. no time wasted trimming that low score. nice round.
To avoid the gate fee at the Jungle, players can park 4 blocks away at the rail trail parking lot located at the light where you turn to get to the park's entrance. And if you pull in and don't have a telephone to call someone, use the SECRET SIGN & SYMBOL to get another disc golfers attention. And just what is that SECRET SIGN & SYMBOL, you ask ? It's a SIMPLE SECRET SIGN & SYMBOL, just park in the lot with your auto facing the main road and then place a disc on your ... more
rumor has it that some are showing up for some early rounds today at the Jungle. My plans are to be there by 1:30 to play a quick singles round, another player is scheduled to arrive about 3:00. I'm bringing my grill and propane for anyone that wants to fire up something good, but for me it's veggie sub day from the GREAT INTERMISSION DELI in Bay City. So if you;re grillin, bring all of the fixins, plates, silverware etc. - I'm just supplying the grillin and chillin part.
17 players last week and to bring more this week we have added NEW PRIZES - This week and until there is a score below 51, pay the $1.00 CTP fee and you'll be qualified to win a TWO DISC PACKAGE awarded to the first team to beat the new low doubles score of 51. Check out the pictures of the two discs donated by Matt Fradenburg and Fred McGill, thanks guys. And as always, when pay your $1.00 CTP for each league night and you'll be in the running to win a two disc package awarded to th ... more
did anyone leave something in the parking lot after Friday's round ? identify
Matt, the mustard was on my cheek and I took it home with me. Something else was left in the parking lot. Here's a good clue - it fits under your arm or ass.
i know what it is, i was just hasslin' you a bit. prof. plum in the laboratory with the lead pipe.
Matt, I knew you knew or know - that should have said "fits under the forgetful arm or ass". I once left my stool and entire bag in the parking lot at the Mt Pleasant course, complete with cell phone, wallet, money and those little minis that you can put stuff in.
thanks to everyone that came out tonight. The grills were hot to go and there was some great weather for disc golf. Brent Faubert placed his drive on hole 1 within a few feet to win the CTP pot of $17.00 and Alex and Clark ripped it up to take 1st by shooting a 51. 17 players, Jeff, we missed you, there would have been NO CALI.
Geez, it sure seems like The Jungle is opening up some! Nice shootin' to Alex and Clark......just a matter of time till someone breaks 50. Tip of the hat to Craig and Matt for bringing out their grills and grub.
the course is in beautiful condition. each round feels like a vacation up north.
anyone that has been watching the leader board at the Jungle has probably noticed that Jeff Bonn and his partners have won every week but one (the week Jeff B wasn't there). The good news, no Jeff B tonight, so come out and try to beat 52, the lowest doubles of the year. $1.00 buy in for the CTP on hole #1 tonight. And with the dollar, you and your teammate also become eligible to win 2 GREAT ROCS that will be given away for the first deuce on hole 5, 12 or 18. We're thinking of adding hole 3 to that list, any thoughts ?
Informal pre-league activities starting today at about 1pm with a warm-up round, probably ending around 2:30-3:00. Bring some drink and food for the grill or depend on those who graciously share when they often bring more than they need. You can count on a grill available from 3- 5... Come enjoy some great fun before leagues tonight.
Ace Pool value over $45.00. Any team scoring 2 on holes 5, 12 or 18 wins 2 new Rocs. The CTP is on hole 15 tonight, $1.00 buy in with 100% payout for the closest drive to #15 basket. The $1.00 buy in makes you eligible for Ace Pool, CTP and birdie prize.
Check out the new donations to the Ace Pool now having a value of near $50.00 or more. And there are some special giveaways. All players that pay into the weekly $1.00 CTP 100% payout will be eligible to win one of two San Marino Rocs. The package is up for grabs to the first team that birdies(2) hole 5, 12 or 18. See you on Friday for the 6:00 tee off. Next week additional disc will be added to our giveaways.
look at my pictures, Sanford League Prizes folder to see what is being given away
rain, sleet or snow. Tuesday there was an umbrella left on the course somewhere. Return it on Friday league if found, thanks
Sanford Lake Park is now staying open until 9:00 which means we can now start league at 6:00pm. Starting tomorrow, 6pm tee off. There are usually players there early, often playing a singles round and then cooking up something on the grill before doubles. There have been 4 more disc donated for prizes (may go in the ace pool, may be special prizes added to weekly doubles). Disc Ciples ... more
Whiskey Bend DG Club has donated 1 VERY NICE Pro D Challenger. Insane For The Chains kicked in a mini and 1 Dow Vapor material t-shirt.Sanford's Free Ace Pool has $10.00 cash and the items mentioned about, total Ace Pool value is now at $30.00. Doubles payout is 100%, everyone that plays is in the Ace Pool. Optional $1.00 buy in for the nightly CTP, tonight hole 15. tee off at 5:15 sharp.
7 players last week, the course is dry, the weather sounds good, 12 people or more would be nice ! Get there early and enjoy a Friday afternoon at the park or at the beach swimming. If you want a ride in, cal one of the regular players ahead of time and arrange pick-up at the Park & Ride public parking 3 blocks away, or hoof it in, either way saving the $10.00 gate entrance fee. Then be paid by 5:10, tee off at 5:15 for doubles that ends NO LATER than 7:45 so the park can lock the gates at 8 ... more

Competition, can anyone bring it on ? Advanced and Intermediate Divisions only have 1 player so if you think you've got game enough to beat one player and win your Berth to the Michigan State Championships, bring it on by paying the $8.00 entry and then play and record your best 3 rounds played anytime on Fridays during the next 3 meetings. Four divisions available, all capped at 4 players each.
Everyone that plays is in on the NO PAY ACE POOL, this year starting with $10.00 CASH ADDED (proceeds from bottles and cans picked off the course). Donations from friends, players, local leagues and businesses are recruited weekly and will be added to the growing ACE POOL as summer progresses.
each week league play is $5.00 with 100% payout. In addition, we collect $1.00 from those wishing to play for the 100% cash payout for the CTP of the night. CTP holes are 1, 14 & 15, played in rotation., next week it's hole 14. Once a month we may add LONG PUTT in lieu of CTP.. Week One CTP was won by Cameron Penix when he placed his drive on #1 about 40' short and right of the basket.
The weather is great and the course only has a couple of holes with wet spots, nothing too bad at all. Be there today ready to tee off at 5:15, partners will be decided at 5:10. Anyone that doesn't want to pay to enter can park outside the park, about 3 blocks away at the stoplight is public parking for the rail trail. ALSO, don't forget to come on out early today for singles and see if you can be low score in your division to Win A Michigan State Championship Berth package. check it out

April 1st, 2013 - No Foolin' - THE JUNGLE @ SANFORD LAKE PARK is extremely wet and the Park has decided to CLOSE THE COURSE until further notice. Friday Night Doubles is scheduled to start April 19th, keep an eye on the League Info page, the dates may need to be pushed back until the course is playable without ruining all of the grass planting and grooming done last fall. The Park doesn't start taking gate fees until after May 1st. and it's $10.00 per car for Non Resident daily entry, $50.00 for a yearly Non Resident Pass
It should dry within a couple of weeks, if the ice leaves the fairways and the ground thaws. It seems The Jungle has some lake effect !!!
FYI: Wickes is relatively dry. I'm managing play with a cart rather nicely.
