SEASON XII
7 weeks (best 5 weeks count) - RANDOM TEES EACH WEEK
OVERVIEW
The SDGA PDGA Handicap League is a weekly league that allows players of all skill levels to be competitive. Scores are adjusted based on individual player handicaps. Handicaps are determined over time based on previous week scores. Players receive points each week based on their finishing position. Anyone can win!!
HOW DO I ENTER?
First-time players may register in person before the start of any Saturday league event throughout the season. New players will be provided a starting zero handicap that will adjust over time to their actual league handicap. All players are always eligible for scratch score payout, handicap payouts, and ace pots.
Entry fee per round: $5
Ace fund buy-in: $1
Super Ace buy-in: $5
Cash CTP buy-in: $3
HOW DO I ESTABLISH A HANDICAP AND HOW DO THEY WORK?
Handicaps are determined by averaging the BEST THREE SCORES from the player's LAST FOUR ROUNDS. If a player has not played at least 3 rounds, they will be given a zero (par) handicap to start. As the player completes league rounds, their actual scores will start to replace the starting zero handicap scores.
Example: If a player shows up for the first time, their handicap is 0
0 + 0 + 0 = 0
0/3 = Handicap 0
If they shoot +5, that score will replace one of their "starting zero" handicaps:
0 + 0 + 5 = 5
5/3 = Handicap 1.6
On their second round, they shoot +10. This replaces their second score:
0 + 5 + 10 = 15
15/3 = Handicap 5
By the time the player completes their third round (+7), they have a complete handicap:
5 + 10 + 7 = 22
22/3 = Handicap 7.3
Please note that only 80% of the handicap value is used. So a 7.3 handicap is actually 5.8, and an 8 handicap is actually 6.4. This always ensures players who shoot lower scores are slightly rewarded.
HOW ARE SEASON POINTS CALCULATED?
Each week a player participates in the league, they will automatically be awarded 10 points. Players will receive an another 1/2 point for each player they beat. Finally players will be awarded points based on their finishing position as shown below:
1st - 100 pts
2nd - 95 pts
3rd - 90 pts
4th - 85 pts
5th - 80 pts
6th - 75 pts
7th - 70 pts
8th - 65 pts
9th - 60 pts
10th - 55 pts
11th - 50 pts
12th - 49 pts
(minus one point for each additional place)
Points will be awarded to all players at the event and tracked to determine a season winner. Each season will have a per-determined number of drop weeks announced before the season starts. Only the set-number of highest scores per player will be used.
HOW ARE PAYOUTS DETERMINED?
The entry fee to play in the league is $5. Players may pay at registration weekly or prepay via Paypal or Venmo. Payouts are as follows:
2-4 players: 1st place handicap and hot round players receive amount equal to number of players. (If 4 players, they each receive $4)
5-9 players: 1st place handicap and hot round players receive $5
10-14 players: 1st place handicap receives $10, hot round player receives $5
15 or more players: 1st place handicap receives $10, 2nd place handicap receives $5, hot round player receives $5
$0.50 from each player goes to the PDGA, and $2 from each player goes to the SDGA. Any remaining amount will be used to fund the end of season payout pools.
ACE FUND AND SUPER ACE FUND?
Players may choose to opt-in to additional Ace pools. The regular ace pool is $1, and the super ace pool is $5. If a player hits an ace, they will win everything in the ace pool they opted in to. The $1 Ace Pool winner will always receive $100. The $5 Super Ace Pool will win whatever the Super Ace pot is at the start of the round. Players may NOT opt into both ace pots at the same time. Ace pools can carry over from league season to new league season.
CASH CTP
Each week a Cash CTP will be available to all players for an optional $3 buy-in. The Cash CTP hole will be announced before the start of the round. The eligible player with the closest shot to the basket on the Cash CTP will win the Cash CTP purse.
SEASON WINNINGS
At the end of the posted season, payouts are as follows:
Season champion: 55% of season payout pool
Second place: 30% of season payout pool
Third place: 15% of season payout pool
