I wish I could film every match . . . but I have to play too. I got to film a good match last year and got an ace on film . . . so depending on if Kyle and I can play our match early . . . I still hope to catch another match on film, preferably a championship match.
Mike i Am going to have to pull out of the playoffs as my schedule wont allow me to allow me to make it this monday or next week
Colin, you can arrange the match to be played with Brian on your own. I am fine if it happens anytime before Monday at 5:00 PM. If you are unable to make it, I am sorry that is the case.
I just thought I would make a post in case some of you planned to play your match early. Match Play is similar to skins only each hole is only worth 1 point. Here is a scenario that will explain how Match Play is scored.
Player A throws a 3 on Hole #1
Player B throws a 3 on Hole #1 . . . the hole is pushed and there is no score.
Player A throws a 2 on Hole #2
Player B throws a 3 on Hole #2 . . . Player A wins the hole and goes 1 Up.
Player A throws a 2 on Hole #3
Player B throws a 4 ...

To Quote Indianapolis Colts coach Jim Mora in a famous sports rant . . . "Playoffs? Are you kidding me . . . don't talk about playoffs . . . I just hope we can win a game."
It's all down to a few matches. Anyone who qualified can win their respective division with 3 Match play Wins. You can come in as an 8 seed . . . but still win the whole division. You just have to know how to play your opponent and not just your normal game. Here is how the divisions shape up:

Just a reminder to those in the playoff hunt!!!
Open:
These 5 people have made the playoffs but their seeds are not guaranteed until we see attendance tomorrow and double points might factor in.
Brad Weber 34.5 (dropping a 2.0 and potentially a 2.5)
Joel Kamoske 33.5 (dropping a 1.0 and potentially a 2.0)
Mike Harrington 27 (dropping a zero and MOST LIKELY a 1.0)
Kyle Sparrow 17 (dropping two zeros)
Drew Retherford 11 (dropping two zeros)
Kyle could move into the 3rd with a good rou ...

Before everyone goes off and has all their weekend fun . . . I thought it would be a good reminder that we do still have 1 week of league left before the playoffs. Most of the playoff spots are decided but there are still some critical spots . . especially considering WEEK #10 is double points. Miss out this week and you might just miss out on the playoffs. Keep in mind . . . you need to have played 5 weeks minimum (including this coming week) and also finish in the Top 8 in the division. We do ... more
I am hosting an all day tournament that allows for a lot of flexibility. Come anytime between 9 AM and when the rains begin and play as many rounds as you want to submit your best score. Come with at least one other person or hang around until someone else shows up to play and head out for your first round. Additional rounds I will try to mix people up a little bit. It costs $10 for your first round (includes $1 ace pool entry and $1 course improvement donation) and $3 each additional round. Eac ... more
We do not have league next Monday because of Memorial Day which leaves Week #10 on June 2nd (which is also double points night). That is your last chance to play your 5th round minimum to qualify for the playoffs . . . and also move into the top 8 in your division, Depending on where you fall and how many people end up in the playoffs . . . you might even get a bye week into Round 2. Here are the details of who has met the qualification requirements and those that can still get into the playoffs ... more
After pushing this format to the backburner because of poor weather over two weeks . . . I wasn't sure we would be able to play it . . . but we will be playing it this week as there is zero forecast for rain. I have most of the alternate tees set in my mind . . . but I will be marking them tomorrow before league begins. I feel like I should prohibit rounds before league . . . but I cannot keep people from playing them in advance.
See you all tomorrow . . . I am excited as we approach the final week of this league . . . in terms of the 10 weeks of divisional play . . . then onto Match Play.
Nobody escaped Manic Mondays without being completely drenched. One group was unable to complete their round, and another group simply turned in their skins results because the scorecard had disintegrated.
Surely the weather played a factor in many people's scores . . . but there were a few others that were very good . . . Carrie Daubner tied her best round ever at Valley View with a (+11) in that weather and they were the last group in, which means they dealt with more rain and wind tha ...

I am back after a week long trip to the PDGA Headquarters in Georgia to learn about course design from the best designers in the world. I had a blast meeting those people and listening to their ideas and even presenting my own experiences for them to think about. NOW I am even more excited about course design and plan to do my best to continue to put more courses in the ground. Hopefully I can find some places with excellent land for more challenging courses!
I have posted the scores and the ...

I have some funny money burning a hole in pocket. Can you bring a GStar Leopard and a Gold Line River for me to check out? I am thinking I would like the River and I want to feel the GStar.
I was going to say something else . . . but as I was saying it in my head I realized it would make our next encounter very awkward . . . so all I have to say is . . . DONE and DONE! :)
You realize of course that you will have to tell me when I see you next. Also, max weight for both, thanks.
I think I got all of the PDGA Approved putters on this list. If you have a disc you have a question about please let me know. The putter must be PDGA approved and classified as a Putter or Putt and Approach disc by the manufacturer in order to qualify. If there is anything obviously missing let me know but I covered all of the major manufacturers.
See you all in 2 weeks for Alternate Tees.

I doubt any of you throw one . . . but the Innova Hydra is also considered a Putt and Approach disc.
Not advocating putting it on the list but I was looking and the Skeeter is considered a putter by Disc Golf Center based on the description of it on Innova's website. It is still officially a Midrange on Innova's website but their description says it is good for putting. I was surprised. T ... more
Well . . . no one got out of there dry today . . . because it started to come down anywhere between your 9th-12th hole probably. It was hard at times but once it rained everyone was drenched. How did you play after the rain came? Did you stand strong and keep chugging along or did you give in to wanting to be out of the rain and rush things? I know the mulligans were helpful for some, but I would imagine there were quite a few mulligans used to re-do putts . . . that ultimately also missed becau ... more

We are on for league . . . unless I make the decision to cancel by Noon today. It looks like the rain won't be too bad but if it does rain all day I am not sure I want to send everyone out on the wet course on temporary/mulch/grass tees. I don't want to do damage and I don't want anyone to hurt themselves.
If I do not cancel league by Noon . . . I will be arriving around 4:30 to either mark Alternate Tees or decide what other format would work this week.
Stay Tuned
I am not cancelling league tonight . . . at least not right now, I will have to make the final decision at about 5:45 if we are playing or not. The weather looks like it is going to lighten up at the end of the day. However. . . I do reserve the right to alter the format for the night if the conditi ... more
The format has been changed to Mulligan night. Open gets 1 Mulligan, Advanced 2, Intermediate 3, Recreational 4, Women and Juniors get 5 Mulligans to use at anytime. I decided against the Alternate Tees because it will be dangerous and we will do more damage not throwing from the teepads.
Well this Bounty week was an experiment for me . . . I accomplished a little bit of what I intended but it also had an unintended consequence of not truly rewarding those who played really well. Sure EVERYONE got paid with this event . . . but even the people who ran away with scores in their division didn't win a much larger share than those who didn't do as well. Some of that might be due to the randomness of which bounty holes were selected, some of it might be due to 6 bounty holes ... more
I just tried to play my normal round. Some of that changed because I was hitting long putts so I got a little more aggressive which cost me on one hole. Missed my comeback and carded a 4. I would have probably saved two or three strokes if I had stayed out of the mud on a few holes too. The format o ... more

Throw it closer than anyone on your card and win a portion of the payout . . . you still have to finish the hole and put up a score, but the payout is based completely on the closest drives on every hole.
Originally last night I had posted the results as the points earned but that would throw off anyone who likes to use their scores on discgolfscene so instead I changed them to the actual score. I will now list the points earned . . . there were only a couple instances where higher scores also meant more points, but multiple places where someone who had more birdies and bogeys did better than someone who had mostly pars. Did you play any differently? Did you putt more aggressively because there w ... more
Spring has arrived (55 degrees and partly cloudy) and we are in Week #3 for Manic Mondays. I expect to see a bit of a crowd out there tonight. This will also most likely be the last week I let people head out early. If you come early today and want to start playing, feel free to grab a scorecard early and get out there.
I set some personal records this past week . . . and not the good kind . . . but I will learn from the round.
What did you throw and how did you think you did overall?
This week is Stableford where you are really rewarded for aggressive play! Try not to leave any putts short . . . even your drives for that matter because an ace and a par is worth more than 2 birdies!
The ace pool does not carry over into this format because it artificially encourages people to throw for aces . . . but ...

I used the Opto Pure. I was having a great round, tying my best at VV. I thought I had a shot at first. I was a little bummed to see I got second. The thing that stinks is on hole 18 I had a ten footer that I slept on and dropped short. Missed tying for first place by one stroke. Oh well. I know to focus more no matter how short the putt.
It was good to see some familiar faces at the first league night of Manic Mondays and it was just as good to see some new faces. I hope everyone comes to embrace the uniqueness of this league and its 10 different formats. We had 22 people show for league in mildly chilly weather with all sorts of ice still on the ground in the woods.
We had a pretty good grouping of people in three divisions and I still hope to see a decent number of people playing in the Recreational division too.
