Match play golf: Unlike stroke play, in which the unit of scoring is the total number of strokes taken over one or more rounds of golf, match play scoring consists of individual holes won, halved or lost. On each hole, the most that can be gained is one point. Golfers play as normal, counting the strokes taken on a given hole. The winner of the hole is the player that finishes the hole in less throws.
*** To encourage fair and competitive play for everyone, a handicap of one throw per hole will be given to a player that falls 2 holes behind. This handicap will remain in effect until the player is just one hole behind. ***
Each session will consist of two matches of 9 holes, determined by random selection of playing cards. You will only be playing against one other player at any time. Points will accumulate "soccer" style: 5 points for a win, 3 points for a draw, 1 point for a loss. * 4 Bonus Points for an Ace. *
*** If there are an odd number of players, the odd player will play against a random opponent on their card. This will be explained at our brief pre-round meeting. ***
This will be the same laid back fun style of play that you are used to seeing at 24 Cha!ns minus the Friday style of shenanigans...
Thursday evenings.. Meet @ 5:30 pm (Course To Be listed), Match-up selection at 5:50, and Tee off at 6:00.
