Woodlands Park

I want to start by saying this is a decent 18 hole course. They mostly did what they could with the park and working around the traffic of other park goers. It does have 1 set of concrete tee pads. Other than that this is just your average run of the mill course that goes in parks across america. Nothing really special here. Park is well kept and is safe area to play. Typical disc golf shots here. Im guessing all of the A ratings here haven't been around to play other courses that are good or great. Doesn't even have pro tees. In my opinion almost no course should be an A with 1 set of tees. Doesn't have any special basket locations (like elevated) or obstacles to counter act openness. Maybe 2 anhyser shots on the whole course. This course has no business being in the top 25 in ohio. Its rated above courses way better than it is probably by newbs.

Played 12 holes for a break during a moving trip. The wind was crazy, turning my flat flicks with my D2 and Enforcer to rollers. The weather was terrible. But even without the bad weather, I don't know that I'd have been that interested in finishing the course. It was well kept, there were lots of benches, and the tees were nice. It was helpful the baskets were numbered and though numbered posts or signs at each tee to give a visual signal which way to go would have been equally helpful. Perhaps ...

It was helpful the baskets were numbered and though numbered posts or signs at each tee to give a visual signal which way to go would have been equally helpful. Perhaps the locals don't like such visual breaks in the otherwise flat and sparsely wooded visual field? Perhaps with more play, natural paths will develop that would help? Rocks with arrows or signs on them could be employed. Some of the baskets were close enough to the road I was afraid I could cause a car accident. I'm not a terrible player, but that wind was insane when I was there and I was playing with my alt-bag in case the uHaul got broken into during the trip. I think the design could be just as good with ropes or other landcaped OBs, though I did appreciate the landscaping that was utilized. The bottom line is that this course is no where near what I would call an "A-" course. I did notice that it seemed my route from Michigan along 80/90 showed very little in the way of great courses, but I played Fairborn Community Park a bunch of years ago and this was not even close to as good. I would be sincerely amused if this course was legitimately the 20th best course in OH. My local course puts this to shame and we're only listed as 60th or so in MI. I'm not trying to start any OH vs MI thing, just saying this course probably doesn't really represent Ohio's best. It was very conveniently located off the highway. For what it is - if you like mostly open, completely flat, fairly short courses in a public park setting, this is your jam. Shy of putting in a sizable water hazard, I can't see this course ever being worth better than a C+ rating. That said, I don't mean that as a slight against the course - it's pretty good for what the land has to offer - the land just doesn't have that much to offer.
