Just a quick update. The park is behind on mowing and have yet to get to holes 4, 7, 13 and 18 tee area. They will be mowing it sometime this week.

Registration is now open for the 2017 MVP Circuit Challenge at Young's Run DGC. $30 for 3 discs plus additional swag. There will be 2 rounds of play. One from long tees and one from shorts. There will be a break for lunch after 1st round has been completed. Prizes will be awarded per round for each level of play as well as grand prize overall lowest score. We got several dead/dying trees down today at the Grassman. I'm guessing about 25-30. Many of them where pretty big and pretty dead. The ash trees out there are dying at a rapid pace.

Here are the holes we cut trees on 1, 2, 5, 6, 10, 11, 12, 14, 16, 18. Please be cautious of debris off to the side of the fairways. We will be cleaning it up as we can.

Not only have we cleaned up we also opened up several routes to the basket from various places on the fairways. If you like what you see please let us know.

2. LEFTY
I am looking to have a Lefty that throws backhand come out and play/walk the course soon so i can pick your brain about what i can do to make the course a little more lefty friendly. Or if any of you are lefty's and have some ideas about specific holes please let me know.

3. HUNTING SEASON.
As many of you know hunting season is upon us. NONE of the course is located in hunting areas. I you see any hunters hunting on any part of the course please notify me or if there is a park worker or Ranger around please tell them. Please exercise caution when playing during hunting season. Wear bright cloths or a hat. I have crossed paths with hunters a few time and they have always just move on. Most of the time they are just walking through the course to get to a hunting area.

If you visit the Grassman anytime soon you will notice some pretty significant changes to holes 9 and 17.

Alex, Ryan and myself did some major cleanup and clearing on hole 9 this past Sunday. Now about half way up the fairway you will have several routes to get to the basket. And from the short tees we cleared out several small trees and debris to open up another route on the right hand side. We pushed out the fairway on both sides and all around the basket. The hole is significantly less congested now.

We will be continuing to do work like this on all the holes over the winter months. So far 1, 9, & 17 have been worked on.

If anyone want to help, we work on Sunday mornings from 7-10 and at various other times throughout the week.

Hole 10 will be the priority this week. It may be a 2 week project.

As always thank you all for the feedback. It helps me with the improvements we are making. Please let me know any ideas and feedback you have.

We made some significant changes to hold 17 today. We took out 3 trees on the left of the fairway. The hyzer route off of the long tee is not as extreme now. We also removed a few trees on the right of the fairway up near the dry creek bed to make the landing zone significantly bigger. Also we opened up a small route above the small group of trees by the basket. We played the hole a few time and it seems to play quite a bit smoother without losing the shape and integrity of the hole. I hope you ... more

We removed a few small dead trees and a couple of limbs and vines. It opens up the middle of the fairway a little.

A big thanks to all the players that came out to the inaugural Big Harry Classic. Over half the players that showed up had never played out here before. I thought that was very cool. We raised $250 that will go directly into the fund for shot tee pads.

I had a great time talking to everyone and getting some awesome feedback. Believe me I was listening to all the positive and not so positive feedback. Either way any feedback will help me craft a much better course.

A few of the major complaints where:

1. Little Tree stumps. Believe me this is one thing that seem like a never ending problem. I assure you we are working on it.

2. Saplings on the sides of fairways. As we continue to make the fairways wider we will continue to remove those little saplings.

3. Last but not least the dreaded hole 17. This is a very unique hole and I understand it can be very frustrating. The goal when it was created to make players throw a hyzer then an anhyser. But now that it has been getting so many negative comments I decided to start slowly tweaking the hole. Im going to start by taking out a few trees on the left of the fairway and making the hyzer less extreme. Then two trees on the right near the creek bed to assist in that also. Also I'm going to explore the possibility of a route around the right side.
