Rockwood Central Park

Very fun 9 holer for night golf. However it can kinda get a bit shady. I play this course all the time becuase it is easy to see in the night. During the day it might be a bit crowded. But The flow moves quickly. This course has no elevation change, or water hazzards, and there is no possible way to lose a disc unless you forget to pick one up. There are some trees in play that give a little bit of a challenge, but if you are semi consistant you will walk away with a good score. Bathrooms on site, but closed at night. and only about 6 blocks away from Vance park, so you can get in 18 holes with minimal driving.

the park was very clean and easily navigational. it flowed very well, the locals were very cool and friendly.

it seems to be a well used park/course. it also offers a practice putting basket. all except 1 or 2 baskets were numbered and easily viewable.

it had very decent tee boxes and O.B.'s (walking paths and anything right of the main path is out of bounds)

it offers many ace and birdie ops on the basic unguarded baskets, but you have to throw around a few trees/obstacles to get that opportunity.

i thought hole #9 was the most challenging as its somewhat of a wall of trees that sits 20 feet or so in front of the tee box.

another thing i found cool is i was told by one local that the park lights are on through out the nite and offers a decent game of nite golf. (that sounds like a fun time and hopefully i'll get a chance soon to experience that factor)

Cons: the cons of the course were, no hole signs or course map provided. the basket areas were very muddy and held puddles of standing water at the base of the baskets during winter.

the baskets used to be a combination of mach 3's and 5's and all but 3 were in extremely poor condition, with them being held up by welded structure bar mounts and it seemed that they have seen many years of abuse. (the chains are fine but the catch of the baskets were fucked up).... **** NEW BASKETS HAVE BEEN INSTALLED****

Other Thoughts: there are uni-sex toilets, trash cans, many picnic tables and other sport related activities provided... making it a family orientated friendly courses for non discgolfers. Vance park is located 3 blocks away allowing a two course playable day w/in walking distance of each other.

Beautiful benches recently added! It's not perfect, but it's home to a great community. Holes & tees are very close so be mindful of where you stand. Otherwise, a great course to nurture beginners. Can get very windy in the fields. Mud or ice around some of the tees in the winter. 9 is the signature with the tree cluster, but all of the holes have characters. Winter series has a 7b opposite of 8, passed the three bushy trees on the table or by the baseball diamond. 10-12 uses the field, other ...

Winter series has a 7b opposite of 8, passed the three bushy trees on the table or by the baseball diamond. 10-12 uses the field, other baseball diamond, & practice basket by 1 in different ways each time. There's also Glow Doubles late at night during the week (check fb).
