One of two public championship calibur courses in or near asheville (Mars Hill DGC is the other). Plays through a dominated pine forest but hardwoods are mixed in here and there. With the combination of having to manipulate 20', 10', some down to like 7' lines and the daunting elevation makes Richmond Hill a great challenge. When the pins are in the shorts beginners will have lots of fun, when they are in the backs pros will be challenged. To be in a city park I am very surprised to see an abundance of wildlife out here. So far this summer ('13) I have seen about 3 different five foot black snakes and a fairly rare orchid (pink lady-slipper) near the tee area of hole 5 less
