Not a bad course, raised wooden tee boxes with rubber padding on them. They tee boxes could stand to be a little longer for the multi step drivers. Course is well layed out with great markers and direction to the next hole and not too bad elevation change with a fair amount of trees. The course has great diversity with long and short holes, ranging from 150's to the 300 or 400's

Great coarse. I like the new layout. Fairways are tight so you really need to hit your lines. I don't like the teepads, their a little slippery after a rain. A couple of holes are a little close to each other.

a good course, better before 1 n 18 were moved, but still nice.

Great Course! The thing I love the most about this course, is that every hole is completely different from the next. There are holes in the woods, downhill, uphill, around trees, straight on, and tons more! This course never gets old either, and thats one thing that is different from about this course compared to others. One of my favorites. Extremely recomended!!! A-

Oakland University plays home to Grizzly Oaks Disc Golf Course. You may have heard rumors that this course is going to be pulled to make room for more housing or other building of that ilk. These rumors are unfounded and false. Grizzly Oaks is here to stay.
The course if very well balanced in terms of "righty" vs. "lefty" holes, although if your a righty backhand player you will feel its has a lefty bias. Holes 1 and 18 are currently shortened due to dirt storage from other construction on ca ...

Tee boxes get a little sandy. Nice course. Beware of the disc eating ravine

First time on the course, it was pretty nice. Needs Longer tee pads, I fell off a couple of times.

love how there is a trash can at almost every hole but the grass is to long not sure if its because its the start of the season but the fairways' grass is even to long. other than that great course to play once in awhile not everyday

Small, technical, variations in elevation...enjoyed the course i. Wish it was closer. Tough on a first time solo trip as there are lots of blind holes, even the short ones! Also lots of anhyzer shots, both long and short. Would love to see concrete pads put in, with short and long tee positions. Also, keep out of the ravine!

I'd consider myself a beginner and this course can be challenging. Mostly just because it is in some deep woods. On most of the holes if you don't land on the fairway then your disc is gone. However, most holes are pretty short and simple. Oh, and they finally cut the grass! ^_^

too difficult for an avid-non-pro player like myself. anything put in a less-than-perfect spot was either too difficult to shoot or lost.

nice course , good diversity and very challenging on a few holes.... wish it was 24 holes

Course was all right. No water and not a lot of elevation other than the unofficial "long" tee for hole 1. Lots of scrub brush.

Great Course with a good mix of short and long holes. All Disc in your bag will be used!

very tite could not find alot of the baskets made out of a brier patch would not play again. on a good note had trash baskets on each hole rocks to show you were the next hole is and it was clean

Nothing too special about OU. Shorter course but has some nice elevation changes to make up for it. A little confusing to navigate but there are painted rocks to guide you around the pathways to the next tee.

On the short side, but tight fairways and a lot of anhysers for backhand righties

I really like this course, and it's fantastically laid out for a college campus. Many trees and wooded areas, lots of long holes but a couple of short as well. Several are blind, but work really well for a right handed side arm chucker like myself. This course has a nice practice basket and field for warming up, and is really very clean and well maintained for (again) being on a college campus. A- and I'm liking it more every time I play it.

I like the course. Wish it had cement tee-pads and some better signage. It is funny when someone gives a course a D or F the number of negative votes the review gets. Never knew disc golfers had glass chins.

The OU course is rarely if ever crowded. There are virtually no water hazards, save for the hole 12 ravine off to the left, though I've never seen it more than ankle deep. There is some thick brush but only a few thorn bushes, most of the brush is easy to comb through. I've noticed that the mosquitoes here are pretty light; I'm writing this review after a round at OU on almost an 80 degree day in May, where I used NO bug spray and was sweating, and it was 8:30 in the evening, and I got zero bite ...

Fairways and rough has really long grass for both and needs to be cut, plus they moved tee pad 1 in a different spot now

Some great shots and challenging tee shots, but never groomed or upkept. some holes the rough is rough! Hole one is always changing due to construction around the course. Fun quick round and never that busy. Easy to shoot under par, but easy to shoot over as well.
-1 votes Brian S › June 20, 2012
Good layout for much of the course. The first tee pad is a disgrace and needs to be redone. Also, the landscaping needs work, too much weeds and tall grass.
-1 votes Mike Liskey › December 15, 2023
Heard it was a good course so we went out to try it.
If you like a VERY rustic course than this is one for you! We weren't necessarily looking for manicured grounds and I saw that there was construction going on which had some effect hole #1 & 18 but a little better grooming throughout most of the course would be really nice.
At times it almost felt more like we were on a scavenger hunt when moving between holes because there wasn't any directional signage except for painted rocks on the ...

The yardage is short but LOTS of trees and narrow fairways make this a challenging and fun course to play.

maybe its just my one round so please TAKE THIS REVIEW W A GRAIN OF SALT... i hated this course. the first hole you walk up and its just like, for real? what is it? 75 ft from the tee pad? the first few holes are chinsee. then you get through the first few and its rough city... im not the best player in the world, but i can play an entire round at stoney and never come out of the fairway... between my self and my room mate, we got annoyed by hole 15 and left. i vowed never to waste my time ...

Nice layout on a beautiful college campus. The grass could be cut more often. Fun to play. Bad tee pads.

First time playing this course today. It's not fun if you're just learning Disc Golf and you're still refining your technique. I've been playing for a couple months now and I found this course to be quite horrible. The first hole catches you off-guard because it's only about 100ft from the tee. The 2nd hole gets you worried if you're right-handed because you can veer off to the left and on to the street below the hill. Holes 3-10 are pretty good with not too much difficulty. I did like the ...

This course needs some fine turning on lines to the baskets and some of the tee pads placements our bad! Not thought out very well in some spots of the course. There are lots of unrealistic line to try an hit with a small window of opportunity. There some natural flow to this course but it slams into a wall at one point can't remember the hole. There are some good points about it though lots of friendly people some of the elevations were cool and like the way a few holes fairways dogged! Has lot ...

Great free course. Really good use of the land to get some elevation changes. Fairly short and technical. Could use some more open-field holes.

The layout is sweet. However I really want to give this course an F- cause those tee pads suck.
-1 votes Tim Misiak › February 2, 2024
Not worth playing. Due to the redesign, the course has a few hazardous areas. Some fairways are dangerously close to other tee pads and fairways. Some of the original holes that are still intact are decent, but the redesigned areas ruin it. Hopefully a local club will put forth the effort to turn this into a decent course.

Bad course, holes arent clearly marked at all, or map of course to allow a new person any idea of where the basket is. Will not play without someone who knows the course.

The Grizzly Oaks 2022/23 redesign has variety and is fun and challenging to play. Moderate to lightly wooded. Nice tee maps and concrete pads installed. Hole 1 now starts in the back SW corner of the tennis courts by the bon fire pit. Huge free parking lot (P11) next to hole 1’s pad. Short walk back from 18’s basket. Road hazard to the right on hole 1’s downhill shot. Pronounced elevation changes on holes 1-3 and 18. Mild elevation on other holes. Good combination of hole distances rangin ...

Very very poor and dangerous redesign. Baskets within 40 feet of teepads is one of the biggest no-no's of course design. Played it weekly before it closed. Will never go back to this course with the new redesign. We had Putts flying at us, that's how close some of the teepads are to baskets

Technical with rolling hills. Great spot to work your touch game and gap hitting. New tee pads are great. Needs some signage to help with navigation but once that is in it will be awesome!
+1 votes Brett Waller › May 23, 2017
Some tees are lined up so that you would hit other players if people actually played this course. One pin is missing a basket. 10/10 will not play again
+0 votes Nathan Bryson › October 27, 2020
This course is fun to play, but has some very glaring issues. The tee pads are very slippery, and some are just basically destroyed and the course is difficult to navigate as there are very few signs. However, there are some good holes, technical holes (few big drives). Rough is very rough, but the fairway is well maintained.
+0 votes Garett Patria › September 23, 2018
Recommend taking a picture of the course layout that?s posted on the first tee. You?ll need to reference it often to determine where the next tee box might be hiding

Course has been getting cleaned up to make it more playable. 9 has a new fairway. 13s basket has been replaced. A lot of clearing around baskets and tee pads that needed it. Just need to get OU to replace the tee pads.

I tried to play here and got about five holes in before giving up. It's literally the most unfriendly course I've played (in terms of environment, not people, there were no people). If a disc goes into a bush (and some holes are lined with 8 foot bushes, much like the insanity maze in the Shining), you're paying for that disc in blood.
No information, no logical progression, horrible fairways, it was just bad. Maybe the back nine is fine, but I'll never know.

Once again John has worked hard with the powers that be and improved on a already fun coarse. Tournament ready but would suggest tee times so there is no long walk to tees. Wish I could play this one 3 times a week just as a workout. Chain gang new Three coarse challenge should be Addison Oaks, Bald mountain, and O.U. just to see how many old guys collapse. Ha ha great job John what would we do without you.

I never played prior to the recent changes due to hearing horror stories, but it is up there with some of the best courses in the state now.

Significant, to severe, to obscene elevation changes everywhere. Little tobaggan. The fun factor is through the roof if you like elevation changes like I do. If not, you'll rate it a D-. I give it an A+ even getting dinged for being a 3 season course.. Playing in snow or ice is not recommended. Hole 16 is the best hole in the state that I've played. 208 very downhill island hole in the woods with rocks lining the island. Superb hole and obscene fun shot. I missed and the dz is still 150 very dow ...
