Week 15 Results

After playing through single digit temps, I'm kinda surprised it was a less-than-impressive snow storm that kept people away; but it was just little 'ol me at Hawthorne last night. I guess nobody wanted to take my money this week ;).
I'm headed to CO for a week to play in their Rocky Mountain snow, so we're off until 2/26 when we'll see if we can put a card or two together over at Grizzly Oaks.
What would you do with the $645 ace pot!?

Week 14 Results

I’ve been looking for a good place to take my boy ice skating this winter; and I found it out at Firefighters this week! Ice, ice, ice! The course over in Troy was mostly underwater for week 14 … the solid kind. We made it through without any concussions, though; and I loved seeing all the creative falling techniques!

I’ve been looking for a good place to take my boy ice skating this winter; and I found it out at Firefighters this week! Ice, ice, ice! The course over in Troy was mostly underwater for week 14 … the solid kind. We made it through without any concussions, though; and I loved seeing all the creative falling techniques!
Two teams didn’t seem as bothered by the ridiculously slippery conditions and took home the cash. Fanzi & Bry took it down with a 48, and Brian K and Jon L were only a stroke behind at 49. Well done, considering the conditions!
Andrew F donated the Luna that Drew S nabbed for his CTP drive on beautiful #15; and he took home the $14 cash CTP on the skating rink that was the 8th green. Thanks Andrew! And congrats to both the Andrews!
Despite all of my scraping and salting, nobody rang one up, and the Abyss Ace Pool has climbed to $645! I don’t like carrying that much cash around … so somebody needs to dunk one already!
We’re at Hawthorne for week 15 next Wednesday (2/12), and then we’ll take a one-week travel break (the Rockies, baby!) before firing back up for week 16 on 2/26 at OU. Thanks for coming out, everybody!!

Week 13 Results

Twelve hard-core golfers turned out for week 13! I was really stoked to see so many of you out there at Grizzly Oaks! Thank you!
We had a tie at the top, yet again, with the teams of Anthony G & JK and Mike & Bry taking down the $60 pot with two 47’s. Nice rounds, kids!
I managed to nab the cash CTP on hole 12 for $9, and Neil is the proud new owner of a jar of my homemade pickles for the best drive on hole 5.

Week 12 Results

Low numbers are good in golf, right!? This week, we set TWO league records with low numbers … we had the lowest number of players this week … there were five of us … and we started the round at the lowest temperature so far … it was 10 degrees at tee time. Thanks to the five who showed the grit to play what ended up being a pretty long round this week … I hope y’all are thawed out by now!

Drew S got closest on hole 12 and earned himself a fin that he immediately donated back to the ace pool … thanks!! Drew also made the longest putt on 17 and took home the Aviar3 that Andrew F donated back to the league. Nice shootin’ Drew!
We’re at OU next week when it has to be warmer and where an ace will take home over $525! Hope to see you all out at Grizzly Oaks on the 29th!

Twelve of us braved the 20-degree freeze at Firefighters this week. Maybe it was the alure of winning over five bills for dunking one, but thanks to everyone who suited up for the weather!
Andrew F and Brian K ran away with it and cleared the field by 6 strokes with their 44. That scorching round earned them $40 … great shootin’, guys! Behind the hot round, there were three teams tied at 50: Drew S & Jon L, Daniel M & Fanzi, and me & JB. Respectable.

Nobody marked a 1 on their scorecard this week, and the Abyss Ace Pool has grown to $520! It’s supposed to be really chilly next week, but I’ll be out at Hawthorne on the 22nd no matter how cold it gets. Why not join me and try to take home the big bucks!?

Nine souls came out to Grizzly Oaks this week despite the bitter cold; thank you!! It was below 20 degrees at tee time, and 14 or so when the last card came in. There was a tie at the top again with the teams of Kelsey & Fanzi and Andrew & Drew shooting the hot round (50) and splitting the $45 payout … solid performance considering the weather!
Neil took home the $8 cash CTP for putting it closest on hole 3; and Drew nabbed an old-school Leopard 3 (thanks, Andrew!) for his drive ... more

Despite the biting wind that accompanied temps in the low 30s and a pretty steady snow for a lot of the round, there were 14 of us out at Firefighters for week 8 … impressive turn out! Thanks to everyone who braved the weather!
The little course in Troy played tougher than it does on a warm, summer day, and 47 was the hot score. Bry and I chalked up one of the 7-down rounds to tie James and Mike G and split the $70 payout four ways. Well done, fellas!

It was in the low 30's and spittin' a little at tee time this week, but there were 11 brave souls who came out to Grizzly Oaks to throw plastic at metal in the dark and snow (flurries for the 2nd half!). Thanks to everyone who thought better of staying on the couch!

Week 6 Results

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
The day before this gluttonous adventure there were 12 of us out at Hawthorne trying to preemptively burn off some calories. Thanks to everyone who came out!
James and Andrew F got paired up and kind of swept the thing. Their 47 beat the field by 3, James won the CTP throw off for $12 after a flag debacle, and Andrew got my homemade pickles for his park job on 15.
No aces at Hawthorne, though, and the pool is up to 3 bills!
We're back at OU for week 7 next Wednesday. Grizzly Oaks has a few ace runs. Let's go!

Week 5 Results

The rain DID quit before tee time this week, and there were 11 of us out at good 'ol Firefighters. The 'hot' round was a 47 by some of the usual suspects. Congrats to Andrew F, Neil, Brandon M, and James for taking it down this week!

Andrew F gets more props for nabbing the CTP on hole 2. $10 went his way for not ace-running the basket ;). Well done, Andrew! (and I hope you found your phone!)

I'm consistently impressed with the number of folks that are coming out to play in the dark! There were 18 of us this week, and the Andrews (Andrew F and Drew S) took it down with a scorchin' hot 45. Well done, fellas!

Shout out to Brandon M for taking the CTP on hole 16 for a Discraft Heat and to JK for taking the overall league lead with his 2nd place finish this week!

Week 3 Results

Thanks to everyone who made it out to Hawthorne for week 3! We had 17 people ... including some new faces. I think that's a great turnout for a glow league in Pontiac.

Shout out to Brandon and James with the hot 46 ... even with long-to-long on hole 8 ... nice round fellas!

We'll be at OU (Grizzly Oaks) next week, and check-in will be near the fire pit next to the 1st tee. If you've never been to this course, you'll find us on the south side of the athletic complex on Pioneer Road.

Hawthorne Tonight!

Tonight, we'll move to course #2 in our 3-course rotation: Hawthorne Park!
If you've never been to this course, follow the directions here on the Scene or navigate to Pontiac Oaks Park if you're searching Google or Waze (Oakland County runs the park now and renamed it).
The first tee and check-in are near the back of the park close to the water.
