Glen Miller Park

This is a bomber of a course. Well placed long drives are essential to score well on the back nine. Tons of long/great holes on this course. I loved the elevation changes and loads of mature trees. This is a bomber of a course. Well placed long drives are essential to score well on the back nine. Tons of long/great holes on this course. I loved the elevation changes and loads of mature trees. I tolerated the Predator baskets, as they caught some of my good putts. The course was in very good shape considering it is still fairly new and they recently put in new tee pads.. A very fun and very challenging course. A couple of the short holes were as challenging as some of the longer holes with all of the trees. I would make a point to stop in a play again if I were in the area. You better gets birdies early, as I thought the back nine was much tougher. Beginners and families won't have much fun here. This course was truly designed for experienced disc golfers and pros. One of the most difficult courses In Indiana with lots of hiking up and down hills. I would like to see another set of natural tee pads/markers from a shorter distance for the newer players.

The start is not easy to find if you don't come into the park on the right street, The distance between the baskets and the next tee pads are pretty far apart on a lot of the holes. As a player and old guy, I wasn't sure why some of them were so far apart. This is a huge park and looked like plenty of room to get another 18 holes put in at some point in the future. Maybe there is a good reason for this, but I sure couldn't figure it out. Not a big fan of the Predator baskets, as I don't think they catch very well, (maybe it is my putting) and the fins on top of some of them, were supposed to be pointing towards the next tee pad. The directions were off just enough to make you question which direction you should walk towards the next tee pad.

Right by hole #1 they have a natural spring. Many Richmond residents bring plastic bottles to fill up and take home. Lived in Indiana most of my life, learned something new today, Indiana actually does have natural spring water.

UPDATE from 8/21: Below not revised but I was thinking of this park and looking back can’t believe I gave it a B. I upgraded 2 notches to the consensus A-. I think I ranked it lower b/c it was all 4’s for me. Accept that Glen Miller plays long. The pictures I have and memories of this round … just a gorgeous park when green after April. Beautiful terrain. Not a lot of variety. Long holes if your goal is getting 3’s. No room for error. Almost no deuce holes. Maybe 2. Played the 2nd Annual TIP International DG Fundraiser today. Great time! Great people. Could see myself coming back for another tourney. TOUGH! 17 4’s w only 1 par 3 made. There is 1 elevated basket out there.
