The first course I ever played, didn’t realize how spoiled I was. Great mix of woods and open, uphill and downhill and flat, short and long. Some water in play (always a plus). One of the extremely well designed Western PA courses that makes Pittsburgh a disc golf destination.

This course is one of the gems of western PA disc golf. This is a must play if you are in PIttsburgh. A good mix of technical wooded holes and fair lines. There are also wide open bomb shots as you play all 18 holes. Some fairways have mud when it rains but consistently improving.

Deer Lakes is my home course and every time I stop by for a round, I'm awestruck by its design. The course offers many different lines that can be immensely satisfying to hit, but incredibly punishing to miss - a shot can go from "parked" to "scrambling" at the drop of a hat! A good mix of "easier" holes (notice the air quotes), mixed in with much more challenging holes will keep you engaged without pounding you into the dirt. Course maintenance is always stellar. I have never seen the course ...

One of the best courses in the area. A must play. The benches at each pad are a nice touch, although they could move them a little further away from the concrete.

This course sucks. Several disc golf baskets placed right next to a ravine with a sludgy mud creek at the bottom. Lots of places to lose discs including the worst possible number 15 which has you shoot straight across the nastiest mire and muck lake water thing with the basket but 10ft from the edge of the lake. I spent most of my time looking for my disc

Tough course. There are more than a few holes that are constantly wet & muddy. Don’t go if it’s been raining. Good variety of woods & open areas. Terrific elevation changes. The water hole is a bitch. I personally can’t clear it from the longer tees. Very challenging. Ranked high due to difficulty. Not for beginners.

Excellent course, really nice layout with good transition holes going from in to out of wooded areas. Really nice use of elevation, almost to the point of too much lol. Bring lots of liquids and give yourself a good 3 hours or more for this epic 18 hole course.

Fantastic disc golf course and one of the best I've ever played. It has everything. Off the tee the shots are unbelievable and on the long holes the approach to the basket is just as good if not better. My only complaint is that it gets wet and muddy after some rain and a few of the fairways don't have the cleanest lines. Small complaint for such a great course.

My favorite course. Definitely challenging and you better like hiking as much as you like disc golf. A suggestion I would make if your going here for the first time is make sure you have good shoes or even hiking boots because if there has been a recent rain you'll definitely end up with wet feet on a few of the holes from the mud (mainly the monster hole 3). One of the sites for 2015 Worlds so it is a top notch place to play, I'm just lucky enough to have it 25 min from my house.

Deer Lakes is a great coarse. Has a bit of everything. From throwing over water, up hill, down hill, across mini valleys, trees everywhere, wide open shots to long narrow fairways. Multiple par 4 and par 5s. It's well kept. Has cement tee pads for all 3 skill sets on all 18 holes. Seems like every time I go there that there is an improvement to the course as in trenches, bridges and walkways over some icky areas. Some tees may be hard to find if it's your first time there. Only dislikes imo is it can get really muddy (after a rain) and it's very hilly.

Pros;
- well manicured parkland/forest course,
- a variety of challenges - technical, elevation, water, O. B., long par 3s, 4s, and 5s,
- 3 sets of long cement tee pads,
- tee signs and benches,
- picture of layout at parking lot,
- premium on shaping your shots,
Cons;
- hard to navigate on first run,
- long walk between 6 & 7.

This course is amazing. It has red, white, and blue level 12 foot concrete pads, Mach X baskets and three pin locations on each hole. Par 66 with tons of elevation change and a perfect mix of techincal and open shots. Watch out for the water on 15 its no fun! Well maintained but can be muddy after rain or during winter, early spring or fall. Really anytime expect mud at Deer Lakes😉 If you can play only one course in Pittsburgh and you like a serious challenge, play here!

Solid course, glad to be able to call this my home course. Good layout, plenty of challenges. From heavily wooded to big open areas, uphill and downhill shots.
This course is a must-play for any disc golfer, if you are in the Pittsburgh area for any reason, come play the best course in PA.

The course was layed out great except got a little lost on 13/14. Make sure you ready for a hike cause this course wore me out! Very challenging great tee boxes. The infamous water hole (15) was a disappointment. My friend lost her disc in the water. I fortunately hit a tree from the white tee and landed near the water. Why not have a bridge through the water so you have a shot at getting your disc back.

If you like a nice, straight shooting, flat, easy to navigate, pin visible from the tee, short jaunt along a course, this is not for you! However, if you are interested in blind pins (and sometimes tees that are an adventure to locate), expansive wooded holes, sharp elevation changes, driving over an impassible lake, and an otherwise perfect play experience, Deer Lakes Park will rock your socks. Keep your eyes open for water spiquots for some much needed refreshment along the way. Was it just ...

I spent most of my time either hitting trees, looking for my driver, spooking deer or getting lost. Had a GREAT time!

It's a beautiful course and I can't wait to play it again. By the way, this was only the 2nd time I have ever played disc golf!

From Michigan. This course is awesome. The elevation changes definitely wears out the body. Could use some better signs to get to hole 7 and a sign to the pin on hole 9. I would highly recommend this course to out of towners

Great job with the amount of clearing that has been done over the past year. Could possibly use some wood chips to help with the amount of moisture we've had this spring.

Nice sunny day. Mostly short pins. Was the Deer Lakes Monthly tournament. Tied for 1st and went to sudden death. Both parred hole one. I nailed a 45 ft up hill put on 2 for the deuce and Gary missed his 25 footer.
