WDGC Sunday Doubles

Hey all,

Craig Jensen is running Sunday doubles now. He's starting to work on growing it into a well attended weekly. I am getting him access to admin here on DGS so he can reach all of you who follow this way. You can also get information on the club Facebook page, which is what Craig has been using mostly.

Red Moon Doubles

Random Draw Doubles at Willamette tonight!
$5 buy in. Meet at hole 1 shortly before 7pm to form teams.

It's going to be a great place to view the Lunar Eclipse. The moon shoud be eclipsed for most of the round. Next lunar eclipse at Apogee (closest part of orbit to earth, and thus largest appearing moon) will be in 2033 (and who knows what the weather will be like THAT night? I'll be 60y/o and probably KILLING Senior Grandmaster Divisions!) Viewing conditions are perfect for t ... more

Handicap League(s)

The Adair Handicap League is back in action! Tuesdays and Thursdays, meet at 5:30, tee off by 5:45. More information on the events tab up above.

We are also starting the Willamette Handicap League! We will be starting Saturday May 30th and will hold League events every Saturday. Tee off will be at 10 am. Once again, check the events tab for more details.

McBeast Challenge and Adair Upkeep

The McBeast Challenge is coming to Adair on June 9th. It is a three disc tournament (one round) with a clinic to follow held by the Willamette Valley's own Nate Sexton and the number one player in the world Paul McBeth. To help make this event a success we will be pouring concrete for Hole 13's tee pad and putting a pin location for Hole 12 on the stump. We have flagged out an outline of where we think we will put the new tee pad. The club has already voted on moving the tee pad, this is just getting the final placement in just the right spot. The current plan is to pour (well, hand mix) concrete on Saturday May 30th. Prep work will be happening during the week.

Summer Solstice event in Corvallis needs a TD

Disc Golfers,

This is an opportunity for someone to work with a few local businesses to help Corvallis have a big party.

Some businesses downtown (Cloud of Downward Dog etc) are planning a solstice festival for June 20th on 1st street. During the day they plan on having fun fundraiser events around town that include things like a paddle board race and a kayak race on the river. They would like to include a one day disc golf tournament at Willamette that could be a fundraiser for the Envir ... more

That day is in the middle of the Whistler's Bend Doubles event and all of the club members with tournament directing experience will be there. Is there anyone who would like to step up and run this tournament? The club will donate the supplies needed to run the event. They would need you to take registration, set up the course, and run the scoring. In the end you will get to party the night away at a huge street party.

USDGC

Our own Nate Sexton finished 5th at the USDGC, just a few strokes from the leader!
My kids were awesome to watch, watching Nate. I have 2 NC born kids, and he was officially playing for NC. In the end, it didn't matter to us. He's just "our pro" and it was really fun to watch him throw so well!!

Karl P. just moved a bunch of baskets at Willy. We figured it would be a good idea to test drive them with a casual doubles round. We'll have a 530 check in--then start when ready. $5 buy in. Random draw (unless there are clearly a couple downhill players that we should separate) I'll check with our Prez to see if we can have the club Ace Pot active for $100 payouts. Sunday Dubs, Adair, 11am tee off.

It should be great tomorrow! Some of our Salem homies are going to be coming down!
I'm going to try to make it over from work.
It'll be run by Mike Gibson. Uphill/downhill (Pro/Am) style.
$4 buy in plus options of up to (2) $1 mulligans and $1 ace pot.
Ace pot is $100 (can hit several for more $$$, Jerah style!)
There will be at least 1 CTP, maybe more if I make it out.

Hey all,
Random Dubs @ Adair 11am Sunday!
I'm excited because it's MY first club dubs on the new tee pads!!
They really turned out awesome. I'd sure like to see some of our Salem Homies who helped us on the day of the big pour. I know they are working on a new course (Wheatland DGC) from 1-5. Maybe we can carpool from dubs up to the new course and tear it up!
Hope to see you all out there. Since I missed the first dubs on the new pads, I'll make it special this time. There will be at least 3 CTPs!

kalib(new guy from Albany) took down BOTH the hole 15 ctp (an imperial red something) AND the hole 18 longest putt (a Roc3)!!!

Concrete Tee Pads reality @ Adair!!!

What a strong turnout! Thanks so much you guys. It was really good to have so many guys with concrete pouring experience (To make up for my gross incompetence!)
A special thanks to our Salem bros. You guys kicked ass! Thanks for rollin down the hill to help us out.
And now we wait...I think we can start playing on Tuesday. I'll double check that and let you all know.

We had to reschedule the big pour for Friday. Sorry if you made plans to come out tomorrow! We've scheduled a 1030 truck arrival time. We still needed as many bodies, wheelbarrows, and shovels as we can get.

Concrete T-pads at Adair are becoming a reality! All the forms are in place. I'm told that Dave Pittman has quietly (as usual) moved a bunch of gravel today. We need to move a bunch more and pack it down in preparation for the cement.
If you can come out and help tomorrow @ 10am, we'll be out there finishing up the gravel work. Doug Ulfers is volunteering his tractor. If you have a wheelbarrow, bring it on out along with shovels and gloves.

WDGC active on DGS?!?!?

Hey All,

I'm going to give Disc Golf Scene a try for our Leagues/Events (at least for the ones I'm running). It seems like a majority of us are booked into the Yahoo group for internal club stuff, and that's fine with me. I think we'll be able to reach more local golfers this way though, especially for some of the league and weekly events I'm running.
