Just a reminder that with the outdoors masks mandate, in order to not have to wear masks please continue to practice social distancing. Considering the courses that we all play at this should not be an issue. No one is requiring you to wear a mask outside while playing league. We ask that all of our members to respect each other's space and social distance and if you can't social distance to then respect them by wearing a mask as appropriate. This is no different than the same request we had earlier this year at our events.

Capital City Disc Golf (a local Salem, Oregon Non-Profit) has put together a project to replace the baskets at Keizer Rapids Disc Golf Park in Keizer, Oregon. The first step of this project is collecting donations from all the from our community both locally and globally to assist us with this project!


Our plan is to purchase 18 Innova DISCatcher® Pro baskets, sleeves, and materials to permanently install the baskets in the ground. Capital City Disc Golf Club and other community members will install the baskets. Existing baskets may be used for another upcoming project with the City of Keizer.


Project Costs
$5850 for 18 Baskets
$600 for 24 Extra Sleeves
$400 for 3400 pounds of concrete
$700 for Freight
$7550 Total

Approximately 4 man hours of work per basket $1800 in estimated volunteer hours.


We have submitted a grant application to the city of Keizer to match our funds and potentially reduce our donation goal. We will post updates as we work through that process.

FYI we are raising all weekly league fees for Capital City Disc Golf leagues by $1. Remember league fees are separate from ace pot buy-ins.

CCDG Member League Fee was $4 and is now $5
Non-CCDG Member League Fee was $5 and is now $6
Ace Pot Buy-in remains an additional $1.

These fees will help offset the additional costs with online payment system fees.

Temporary Basket Change at Woodmansee

FYI the basket location to Holes 9/18 at Woodmansee will be changed to accommodate construction for approximately the next 9 months. Hole 9/18 basket will be placed in the long Hole 8/17 position. This is a temporary location during construction and the basket location will be returned after completion.

Masks Required at Check-in for EVENTS!

For the time being any Cap City event that requires check-in (currently ONLY Sunday Random Doubles) will now require all those wishing to play in the event to have a mask on during the check-in. We place your health and the health of all other players above our need to run the league and with that, if do not have a mask on for check-in you will need to get one.

Heiders Hike Tee Pads

As of today all 18 holes have concrete tee pads. We had 8 people to show up, Dave Heider, Steve Jones, Shaun Kirk, Brent Cameron, Gary Fitzgerald, Terry Houck, Brad Rich, Michael Ray and myself. We knocked out the last 3 tee pads that needed poured Saturday morning. Shaun and myself formed and leveled them last Friday morning. We will be spreading bark chips around seven’s basket and cleaning up all the sticks and debris there. We will also be trimming some of the shrubbery between seven and eight. The ditch between 16 and 15 will be getting some attention if it’s dried out enough.

Please bring proper work attire and gloves.
If you have rakes and shovels and can bring them that would be great. I ... more

Sunday Random Doubles Update

CCDG Has made a few changes to our Sunday Random Doubles (SRD). 1st we have added 2 courses to the rotation Wheatland and Oregon state hospital.
SRD Is going to become a points series, SRD.ps. The 1st series will start this Sunday January 6th at Woods, It will last 8 weeks and you will count your best 5 results. Buy in is still $5 it is still random flip. The new league is Sunday random doubles point series, And it is listed under leagues for CCDG.

4th of July Random Doubles!

Hello all, I will be running a 4th of July Random Doubles at 10 AM.

Normal CCDG stuff, $4 buy-in for members $ for non-members with option $1 for $100 Ace Pot ($50 for non-members). I will also have a disc and other items for CTPs. I'm more than happy to take donations for other CTPs.

We will also be doing a work party before we start (starting at 7 AM) to do the concrete work for the new benches. Please come if you have time.

10/29/17 Church Park 27 Hole Format

Good evening. This Sunday we will be playing Church Park for doubles. We will be playing 27 holes using 3 different formats for each 9 hole loop. The first 9 will be alternate shot, the second 9 will be worst shot, and the third 9 will be best shot. If there is a Cali, they do not get an extra shot during alternate, they throw twice for each shot during worst shot and take the worst of the two, and normal Cali during best shot. This Sunday March 13th anyone interested in helping out Capital City Disc Golf Club and its members can show up at the park at 8 am to assist with spreading wood chips around tee pads baskets and walk outs. We will also be trying to move/remove debris piles from around the course. If anyone has access to and/or is certified to run a bobcat we are trying to procure one along with a wood chipper to aid in this project.

So bring your love of the game, and your desire to keep our courses in beaut ... more

Woodmansee Hole Closures-Saturday 1/23/16

Friends of Trees (FOT) and the Salem No Ivy Coalition will be out at Woodmansee Park this Saturday from 9 am to 1 pm to work on ivy removal and native plantings along the creek. Due to the area where FOT and volunteers will be performing work, holes 1/10 & 2/11 will be temporarily closed on Saturday, 1/23 until 1 pm.

They are also looking for more volunteers, just show up ready to work at 9am!

I made repairs on the nets at Cascade today, they have really been getting hammered I guess they're doing their job. The trees that survived this long hot dry summer are really looking good, with a lot of new growth. I am really looking forward to seeing how they will turn out over the next several years.

This month has a 5th Sunday. May 31st. We have been playing Taloali a lot recently so on the 31st we will travel to play a different than normal course. I am open to suggestions for an alternative location. Please keep your suggestions to within 30-35 miles of Salem for this trip. Change to Ace Pot Policy

For all aces hit during Capital City Disc Golf events: Any current CCDG member who aces will be paid $100. (This excludes holes 3, 5, and 6 at Dallas City Park, which are $25 aces). If an ace is hit during a league/tournament round by a non-member, they will receive 50%. You can purchase a membership for $10 at any club event!

Camp Taloali

Just a friendly reminder: Camp Taloali is a pay to play course. There is a $5/player fee to play. (Even if you're playing a CCDG league)The fee can be left in the drop box at the course entrance, or dropped off with Sylvia in the main office. They also offer memberships for $30/year. Tree Planting At Cascades Gateway.

It was a huge success! An incredibly giant THANK YOU goes out to Friends of Trees, North Salem High School, Salem Area Community Service, Barry Bolliger, Joe & Judy Higgins, Jeremy McVeety, Steve Winslow, Kayla Johnson, John Weimar, Dennis Swanson, Marshall Dunst, Robert Littrell, and anyone else that was missed. 33 trees in the ground and protection nets up(still more of those to come). The difficulty factor has already increased and in 5-15 years it will be completely different. Thanks again to everyone who came out and helped.

TREE PLANTING

November 15th City of Salem, Friends of trees, and Capital city disc golf will be planting 32 trees at Cascade Gateway Park . The holes will already be dug, easy work left. This is not a cap city thing, I would really like to see the disc golf community show up for this event. We need to show city of salem that disc golf is the future, and we are here to stay. Clarification

I would like to make it clear that Steve Moore is working with the Parks Department as merely a concerned citizen, and not a representative of Capital City Disc Golf. No agreements are currently being made by CCDG. All CCDG volunteers will still do the same thing we have done in the past, there is no need to go through Steve. Barry Bolliger remains the point of contact for any greenskeeping/course issues. Thank you!

Booth at the County Fair

Thanks to all that volunteered their time for manning the booth at the fair. I think it was productive for informing the public about disc golf in the community and letting them know what CCDG gives back to the community and what our involvement in the community is. I have the contents of the entire booth in the back of my car. There's been a little confusion about the new time for meetings. Club meetings are now the first Tuesday of the month at 6pm. The first meeting under this new time will be April 2. Missing basket at Cascades

Went out to Cascades to check on the basket (15) that's missing. The lock is still on the collar, so who ever took it must have had a key. Called Salem PD to report the loss and an officer is supposed to get back to me later. Also someone has fashioned a tone pole of sorts in the basket position. Going to be in touch with Beast to get the practice basket from Woods and put it at Cascades for now and get a new pole for the practice basket we have and get it to the practice basket position at Woods.

Happy 2013 to everyone. Hopefully the new year will bring great days to the Salem and surrounding areas disc golf community. I know there are fences to mend within our group, it's just disc golf not life or limb. Taloali Annual Permits

Camp Taloali annual memberships are available. Membership runs Oct. 1, 2012 thru Sept. 30, 2013. They need to sell at least 42 memberships. Purpose of the memberships is to put a portable toilet on the course. Memberships are $20 and will entitle you to play unlimited golf at Taloali when it is open to the public. Camp administrater said that if they dont get enough support, they will lock the gates and only people with annual stickers will be allowed in (worst case scenerio). Please email me if ... more

Taloali Issue

This is to let everyone know that I personally called the camp administrator and informed her that we would have a large group there Sunday and she put us on the calender of events.I did this a week ago to make sure it was taken care of. As for the $13 dollars in the pay box, I am disappointed in a lot of people for not putting the money in the box. Everyone that plays there should put $2 in the box. Will have to talk about it but maybe TD's running events at Taloali should collect the fee when entries are collected and personally put the money in the box. Robert Jones

I'm asking for weed-eaters for this work party. If you got one please bring it. If you know someone who has one please borrow it. We need to clear the grass and other growth on all fairways.

We also need to remove all downed branches and trees.

We are also working on the back fill dirt for all those new concrete tee pads. There is plenty of dirt coming out of the new boat ramp and were trying to get the city drop it off around the course. R&R tree service has donated chips to course.

Only 3 tee pads left and Keizer Rapids will have a full 18 tee pads!

I am planning on pouring 17-18 at Keizer Rapids tomorrow morning. I will be picking up the barrel of concrete at 7:30am and ready for help from 8am untill we are done (11am-Noon).

If enough people show up we will clear the new location for hole 7 and pour it also. That will put a wrap on the concrete tee pad portion of the project!

The next steps are to have a survey of the course layout for mapping and signage, clearing of debris in fairway (chipper).

Invasive Weed pull at Keizer Rapids Park on Sat.

The Claggett Creek Watershed Council and staff from the Public Works Stormwater Division will be hosting another invasive weed pull at Keizer Rapids Park on Saturday, June 2, from 9:00am to noon. On April 14th our energetic volunteers removed 100 cubic yards of invasive scotch broom, but there’s a lot more work to do. No experience required! You’ll need long pants, sturdy shoes, sunscreen (hopefully), and a pair of gloves.

The 2nd Annual BATTLE at Keizer Rapids this weekend is officially CANCELED. I generate the jackpot for the BATTLE format from local businesses and players with hole sponsorship, organized in my BATTLE tournament directors packet. My car was stolen this morning with contents exceeding the value of the car including my entire disc golf bag, tools for work, boots, camp gear, and TD packet with sponsorships. All reported to Salem's finest in a detailed fashion.

Claggett Creek Watershed Council is leading the way.

Lowes came through with the $300 gift of lumber materials, Hertz Equipment Rental is providing the telescoping forklift to set the Precast pads and Advantage Precast is providing soil compactor.

The Goal:

- Lay pressure treated 2x4 stringers into pad locations
- Compact sand and gravel
- Set pads for holes 5,6,8,12,13
- With enough personel we could set pads for holes 1, ... more

Feb 20th

Monday February 20th, presidents day, we are going to whistlers bend for a day of disc golf. So far I have four going with me and I know more that would like to go. So if anyone is interested in going and willing to drive, please say something. We plan to leave Salem at 6am for the long drive. This is also Steve's birthday, so come on down and beat his ass in a totally non-gay way. This is a full day of disc golf so plan on being home in the evening possibly late, but it is well worth it. In my opinion this is one of if not the best course in Oregon.

We have been told by the city today that we have permission to begin work on tee pads 4 thru 9 at Keizer DGC.

This Sunday, 22 January, starting at 9am we will have a work party to level tee pads. Meet at tee pad #8 at the end of Chemawa Road.

We will have a rototiller from a rental company to do most of the work.

We need 5 -6 people to make this happen.
If you would like run a rototiller, come on out and have some fun.

The only tools we will need are shovels, rakes, picks, and an ax ... more

Keizer DGC Flooding!

I talked to the park department today and they say as of this morning the flooding has started on the Disc Golf Course. Baskets 11 and 12 are cutoff because of water. They were suppose to pull them out, but they were a day late getting it done.

The Disc Golf Parking Lot is closed.

If you want to play the course drive down to the end of Chemawa and start at 5, 6 or 8.

We had a great turnout, 58 players competed. 33 in Amature, 3 Junior, 7 Open and 15 in Masters.
Open division winner Chris Wilcox 95, 2nd Ryan Gwillim 104, 3rd Marshall Dunst 105, 4th David Smith 110, 5th Barron Miller 116, 6th Beast Johnston 128 and 7th Doug Luther 150.

Three players were unable to finish tournament Casey Miller, Ryan Nordhagen and Chris Wendlandt.

I want to thank the 7 club members plus myself for showing up for the Keizer City Council meeting last night. Those in attendence were Kyle Groff, Rich Ayers, Steve Moore, Jason Bruster, Lee Hartman, Chris McRae, Chris Wilcox and Robert Jones (If I forgot someone, please let me know). Chris McRae and Chris Wilcox both made public statements on behalf of the club. Money was approved for the pads at about 10:00 something, all of us were there fom 7:00 pm on.
