Six months til the next round of charity events, eh? I have really enjoyed these, and I have a bit of a dream, and I think it's a realistic one.

For the 2013 FFFCT, I think we should aim high...perhaps 20 grand high...or more!

I think we should set up a formal letter that competitors could take to their employers and co-workers interested in sponsoring, and perhaps have a get-together to prepare mailers to send to companies throughout NE ohio to ask them for sponsorship.

I'm thinking something kinda creative, like match $x per dollar raised through entries. Say we cap 6 events at 90 golfers. That's 540 golfers. Anyone who pledges even a dime an entry knows that their donation will be capped at $54, and probably expect only half of that. So, say $25 per individual pledge. Now, multiply that by say an average of 2 sponsors per golfer (many will have none, some may have a dozen or so to offset), and you'd be looking at an additional $12,500 for the charity through individual sponsorships alone! And that's before corporate sponsors even enter the equation.

Corporate sponsors we could offer similar pledges, or perhaps 1 to 1 matching, offer them a cap on donation, and offer them a fixed donation. We could also hit them up for food, drinks, prizes, and added cash offerings to allow us to turn these events into full-field events after all. The thing is, we need at least a few of us making even a small effort, and if many jump on board, we could really turn this into front-page Plain Dealer (OK, Cleveland.com) stuff.

Please offer your thoughts here, and for those who can, I'd like to try to give these ideas a little more structure, perhaps early this Sunday in Medina before the tournament, spending 20-30 minutes trying to gauge support and what ideas may/may not work. If the organizers of the 2013 event give their blessing, I'm going to seek sponsors regardless, but I'd like to make this as fulfilling as possible, so please consider your input and participation.

I just wanted to give big thanks to everyone involved. The turnouts were more than expected but we always had plenty of food to go around.
Its pretty sweet that we raised that much money for a great cause just by going out and having a good time throwing frisbees. Thanks to both Erics for getting this whole thing rolling last season. Looking at how successful this has been, hopefully some more great things can come out of the while NEO golf alliance you guys started up.
I'm looking forward to seeing everyone out on the courses this year, including you Centanni.

Thanks Joshua! What a great series this past winter! Thank you all for all of your contributions at all of the courses. Count on it again next Winter!!! We have some last calculations to do but I believe the contribution could be as high as $2600!!!!! Final results of that will be posted for all to see!

Once again, Eric and Katie and Eric Wernet have pulled off a GREAT closing tournament to an AWESOME series. Lunch was amazing (as it has been at every one of these I was able to make it to) and those Crispy Treats were awesome too (once we got a knife out lol). Thanks to everyone who brought food and any other supplies yesterday!

The tournament went great (aside from my first round of playing). There weren't any delays in getting cards posted for round 2 or after round 2 for prizes and as far as I could tell, getting the points in order for series payout went pretty easy too.

Other than being constantly soaked and muddy, I had a great time and I know of at least another 50 people who also had a great time. Eric, Katie and Eric: I love it when you guys do this series, and hope you are up for it again next year, as I will definitely host/TD the Warren one again for sure!

BTW - How much was raised total to be donated to the Cleveland Food Bank?

OK. Food for tomorrow. Chili and bread from the Thompson's. A pork shoulder from Geo. Eric and Katie are bringing soup. The Wrecking Crew have committed to baked beans. I am bringing turkey sloppy joes. We are looking at like 60+ people. If anyone feels like throwing in any extra things, like sides, desserts, plates, utensils, napkins, bowls, etc. Please feel free to do so, it would be greatly appreciated. Becker and I will be suppling tables and chairs, so we should be able to ha ... more
