This Winter Wizards event will be a fun celebration of art and talent. Congratulations and thanks to Jason Baston (Judge Havoc), for designing the art work on the Winter Wizards players packs for this year and the logo for this course! Jason will be available to sign discs at the event.
Competitors will throw 2 rounds on a temporary 13-hole layout including additional obstacles and out-of-bounds areas. They will also have the opportunity to compete in a themed disc dying competition (additional fees). There will be a break between rounds for voting and there is also food and drink available at Sweets & Swirls Cafe on site. There are washrooms and a seating area inside the community centre too and parking is available onsite.
Amateur competitors will receive the Winter Wizards prize pack (a bandana, 4S Wizard putter, Nylon Wizard putter, mini marker set, $10 Gateway gift card, holographic sticker and a chance to win Gateway's Winter Raffle) where professional players will compete for cash payouts. All divisional winners will receive trophies. Any person can choose to compete as amateur or professional since this event is not sanctioned. Competitors, attendees, and spectators will vote for their favourite dyed disc based on artist creativity, use of colours, and the accuracy of the theme: "Our Niagara Region". The top 3 disc dyes will be recognized with awards, and a cash prize included for the contest winner.
The disc dying competition is open to all competitors and sponsored by Aceman Dyes. You may choose to use a disc (with or without stamp) of your own, or you can purchase the dying kit which will include a blank disc for you to dye. You may use any dying technique; videos and written instructions can also be provided to assist you. Stencils and templates can be used to create your designs. Your disc must represent the Niagara Region in some way and you will receive your disc back following the judging. The disc must also be present on the day of the tournament for viewing and judging. You may use only the 3 dyes provided to you for the competition. Dyes and kits will be available 1 - 2 weeks prior to the event for pick up from the TD in St. Catharines. You will also be able to pick up materials from St. Catharines Women's Disc Golf league nights and King's Forest (Hamilton) on league days or arrange for someone to pick it up for you.
If you would like to play with a friend or partner please list their name(s) in the registration comments. Cards will be mixed genders and divisions. CTP's will be for specific divisions. The Ace pot will be awarded to the first ace or split between multiple aces. In the event no aces are hit, the money will be donated to the CWE. We are also fortunate to host Mindy the Discy Chick as our onsite vendor!
Refund policy: Since the event packs are ordered specifically for this event, if you need to withdraw from the event after December 14th you can:
-accept your player's pack (or have it mailed to you at your cost)
-or find a person (for any division) to fill your spot to receive a refund
Participants who register after December 14th will not be guaranteed a player's pack and would be encouraged to compete for cash payouts.

Pros compete for cash payout and trophies and don't receive a player's pack unless they choose to order one. You are welcome to use these putters or any in your bag. Especially because of the close proximity in date to the Western NY event, I wanted to provide a cash option to avoid people getting multiple players packs. To my knowledge, this is the first Gateway or Winter Wizards tournament in Ontario. There will be additional baskets, obstacles and challenges at the event so I thought an open bag was most fair. Thanks for the question ❤️
