Disclaimer- This event is open to amateurs only (current PDGA members or not) and players with professional PDGA status and with ratings under 970 as of the March PDGA update!
The United States Amateur Matchplay Championships are back again, and this year starting with the singles bracket. The bracket comes with a twist for 2022: there is no state qualifying bracket after the local bracket. Therefore, each local qualifying bracket winner has the invite to head to Emporia, Kansas to participate in the national bracket!
The cost to sign up for your spot in the bracket is $55. Each player will receive a player's pack of 2 unreleased discs: a Dynamic Discs Prime Moonshine Culprit (completely new mold) and a Latitude 64 Triple Burst Gold Line Ballista Pro.
Once all players are signed up and secured and once registration is complete (2 days before the beginning of the event), I will randomly draw opponents for the bracket. If you must withdraw or cannot complete your match after registration has ended, you will forfeit your spot in the bracket and you WILL NOT be refunded. You will be able to get your player's pack though.
The bracket will officially start on Sunday, May 8, 2022. All rounds are to be completed at Lenni Lenape in Lebanon. I don't care what layout you and your opponent agree upon, as long as you play at least 18 holes! Each matchup will have one week to complete their round, and this is a single elimination bracket that only pays out 1st and 2nd place with DD vouchers and trophy discs.
The schedule is as follows:
Sunday May 8-Saturday May 14: 1st Round- 4 matches
Sunday May 15-Saturday May 21: 2nd Round- 2 matches
Sunday May 22-Saturday May 28: Championship Round- 1 match
The TD does not have to present at any of these matches, though I do require that proof of scores be sent to me (via UDisc would be nice) so I can verify the card. And remember this is a matchplay event: total strokes do not matter. You are trying to win holes! If a hole is tied, that hole no longer matters, unlike a skins match where it would carry over. Whoever wins the most holes wins the match. Also if you are up by 3 holes with 2 holes to go, the match is officially over; a player cannot make up that deficit in match play. You and your opponent can still play out the rest of the match if you like.
Winner of this Lebanon bracket will receive the invite to compete in Emporia, Kansas which will take place from September 22-24, 2022. 1st place will also receive a $90 voucher to Dynamic Discs and a 1st place trophy disc. Also, if you do make the trip to Emporia, you will receive a $200 credit to the DD store upon arrival, just for showing up!
2nd place in the local bracket will receive a $45 voucher to Dynamic Discs and a 2nd place trophy disc. 3rd place will not pay out this year, so there will be no 3rd place match.
If this bracket fills up quickly, I am open to running another at Jackson since each bracket is only 8 players.
