Trilogy Challenge at Sylvan
Part of Trilogy Challenge 2023
About this tournament
Sylvan Lake hosts a Trilogy Challenge with a twist - TEAMS!
When registering, spelling counts! Make sure you register under the team name that you and your friends come up with. If you want to play, but don't have a team, that's fine! Sign up anyway, and make your team "Free Agents"
Build up your team of 2-4 players (I'll explain), and sign up for the division that best suits your team's average skill level. For example, if you have one 960 rated player and three 750 rated players, or three absolutely fresh players, you can pop yourself down into that lower division. It makes sense. HOWEVER. When you start to bring that average up so that it ticks closer to 900 for everyone, maybe hop up into that higher division. If you aren't sure, message me (Duncan), and I'll try to help you out.
All higher rated players will be expected to play the white tees. Newbies and lower rated players will be offered the chance to play on some shorter red tees.
This event focuses on bringing in new players - the prizes will be there, cool, and fun, but nothing to get all "try-hard" about, so keep that in mind when you sign up. :-)
A Trilogy Challenge offers you three discs. This year, they're a Retro Orbit Pure (Kristin Tattar TS), a Tournament Ice Orbit Warship (Matt Orum TS), and a Lucid ICe Orbit Vandal (Ricky Wysocki TS). Premium plastic awesomeness. You take those three discs (and only those three), and you try to throw the best score that you can with them.
In this event, you will play two rounds.
Round 1: Singles
Every one of your team's players will play a round of singles.
"How will we make it fair if my team only has two players and another team has four?" Simple - we're going to take your team's two best singles rounds for your team score for that round!
Interlude for lunch and maybe some fun games!
Round 2: Doubles
Everyone will then play a "best shot" doubles round, with all doubles scores contributing to your team's eventual total.
"How can my team have two doubles rounds to put together if there are only two or three of us on the team?" Still simple - if any team has fewer than four players, its members can play Cali (basically, you get an extra shot or two per hole - I'll explain more clearly on the day)
We're going to try scoring on UDisc, but this format may make it really hard. I will have paper scorecards on hand to make the math easier. :-)
The team with the best score in each division at the end of the day will walk away with some solid Trilogy prizes, and hopefully everyone will have a great time!
Again, this is meant to introduce new people to the game, to play a different format than usual, and to have a better than usual time on the disc golf course.
