About this tournament

WELCOME to Throwing Down the Gauntlet at Turner Park, an Armory Disc Golf Gold Tier Event Sponsored by MVP Disc Sports!

This functions as a stand alone tournament (payouts as normal, etc) PLUS earns points towards the Throwing Down the Gauntlet season tour, a year-long points series of tournaments held across Texas that culminates in our Invitational Championship in November (see below for more info)

Throwing Down the Gauntlet 2024

Winners for each division will receive an AUTOMATIC bid to the End of Season Championship, where they will compete for $1000s in added cash + prizes!

There will be a 2x point multiplier for this event for Throwing Down the Gauntlet Season Points Standings

-This will be a 2 round event, with both rounds being held at Turner Park in Grand Prairie, Texas.

Tournament Day

- Round 1 will start @ 8am with a players meeting at 7:30 am

- Players Pack for all Amateur divisions will be provided. CUSTOM WORK from MVP Disc Sports and Armory Disc Golf

- First 50 Ams to register will also receive a commemorative bag tag for the event

- Hole assignments will be listed on the Armory Disc Golf Facebook page and at tournament central near the practice basket

- There will be a ~1.5ish hour lunch break after last card is turned in, and round 2 will start promptly after. Check our Facebook page or PDGA event page for the exact start time of the second round

- 8 CTP prizes up for grabs for free (4 each round)!

- Mega CTP and Ring of Fire after the second round for free prizes!

- Division caps will be lifted 5 days before the tournament begins and waitlist registrants will be added

- Divisions less than 3 one week out from the event will not receive a trophy

Layout/OB

- Hole 1 (Medium: 380 Ft, +15 Elev, Par 3):
Mando left of pole just before the driveway. Most of the driveway is in-bounds.
There is line painted on the driveway, near the “mando” pole, that defines where the OB boundary crosses the driveway. The road and beyond, side-walks, “house” landscape, and roof are OB. Cement behind or adjacent to the house is OB.
- Hole 2 (Short: 351 Ft, -21 Elev, Par 3):
Mando left of telephone poles on the right side guarding the road. DZ at base of pole on left. Road right OB
- Hole 3 (320 Ft, -23 Elev, Par 3):
Triple Mando through "Clowns Mouth". Missed mandos must retee The Gazebo and related cement, the road behind the basket, and hole #4’s tee area are OB.
- Hole 4 (Short: 332 Ft, +15 Elev, Par 3):
Teeing from OB. Disc must land past concrete in front of tee pad. OB drives may play last place in bounds or re-tee. Road and beyond OB. Mando left of marked tree. DZ at base of tree.
- Hole 5 (Long: 281 Ft, +14 Elev, Par 3):
Teeing from OB. Disc must land past creek in front of tee pad. OB drives may play last place in bounds or re-tee. Creek and beyond left is OB.
- Hole 6 (Long: 351 Ft, +9 Elev, Par 3):
Road and beyond is OB. Mando left of marked tree, missed mando proceeds to DZ
- Hole 7 (Long: 207 Ft, -6 Elev, Par 3):
Road and beyond, and the fenced areas (behind the basket) and beyond are OB.
Neither the cement platform in the valley, nor the drainage platform left of the basket, are OB.
The street and beyond, and the fenced areas (behind the basket) and beyond are OB.
- Hole 9 (Medium: 265 Ft, +20 Elev, Par 3):
Road (left of fairway) and beyond is OB. All rocks and poured cement material (right of fairway) are OB.
- Hole 10 (Medium: 305 Ft, +5 Elev, Par 3):
The creek on left and beyond is OB. The creek that short of the basket is OB. Steppingstones are available on the left side of the fairway to avoid mud.
- Hole 11 (Long: 253 Ft, +17 Elev, Par 3):
Road, creek, painted lines and beyond is OB. Mando left of marked tree. Missed mando is a retee
- Hole 12 (295 Ft, -5 Elev, Par 3):
Surrounded by water in creek is OB. Road and beyond is OB.
- Hole 13 (Long: 564 Ft, -8 Elev, Par 4):
In creek surrounded by water is OB. Mando left of marked tree off tee
- Hole 14 (375 Ft, -24 Elev, Par 3):
Road and beyond is OB.
- Hole 15 (Long: 404 Ft, +21 Elev, Par 3):
The OB areas for this hole are: (1) ‘Nature Center’ pavilion and any related cement, (2) the circular Texas Star and rock area, bordered by a metal edge-band, (3) the monument, near the Texas Star, and related cement, (4) the fenced area that contains water flow control equipment, and (5) the roads and beyond
-Hole 16 (Short: 536 Ft, -13 Elev, Par 4):
Surrounded by water in drainage ditch is OB. Road and beyond is OB. Mando LEFT of V-trunk tree on the right. Mando left of telephone poles along Tarrant Rd.
- Hole 17 (Medium: 374 Ft, +12 Elev, Par 3):
Surrounded by water in drainage ditch is OB. Roads and beyond, both right and long, is OB.
- Hole 18A (Short: 271 Ft, +21 Elev, Par 3):
Road and beyond is OB.
- Hole 18B [18A on UDisc] (Medium: 599 Ft, -18 Elev, Par 4):
Tee off from carpet and one meter either side of carpet is permitted. Road and beyond is OB. There are three “mandos” for this hole: The right-most tree of a pair (right), tree near hole 14’s basket and 15’s tee pad
(left), and large tree to the west of the basket (right).

Refund policy

THERE WILL BE A NON-REFUNDABLE $5 FEE FOR ALL REGISTRATIONS

Cancellations will be refunded minus the $5 cancellation fee up until 5 days before the tournament begins. Refunds within 5 days of tournament date will ONLY be granted if that spot is filled before the tournament begins, either by a waitlist player or new entry. Entry fees for dropouts that are not filled within the final 5 days will be added to the tournament payout pool. Ams who drop out during this window and are not refunded will still be eligible to receive their player packs from The Armory Disc Golf Shop within 30 days after the tournament.
