WELCOME to Throwing Down the Gauntlet at Research Park, an Armory Disc Golf PLATINUM Tier Event Sponsored by MVP Disc Sports!

Special thanks to our additional event sponsors Blackwater Draw Brewing, College Station Monument, and Garage Door Guys for helping make this an exceptional event!

This functions as a stand alone tournament (payouts as normal, etc) PLUS earns points towards the Throwing Down the Gauntlet season tour, a year-long points series of tournaments held across Texas that culminates in our Invitational Championship in November (see below for more info)

Throwing Down the Gauntlet 2024

Winners for each division will receive an AUTOMATIC bid to the End of Season Championship, where they will compete for $1000s in added cash + prizes!

There will be a 4x point multiplier for this event for Throwing Down the Gauntlet Season Points Standings

-This will be a 2 round event, with both rounds being held at Research Park in College Station, TX

Hole Layouts

- B Pool will be all female divisions, MA50+, MA3+, and all junior divisions

- A Pool will be all other divisions

ROUND 1

- A Pool will play Blue tees EXCEPT Hole 6 (red), B Pool will play Red tees

- Hole 6 will be flagged as an island hole with drop zone

- Hole 11 will be flagged as an island hole with drop zone

ROUND 2

- A Pool will play Blue tees, B Pool will play Blue tees EXCEPT Holes 2, 3, and 11

- Hole 6 green will be flagged as an island hole with drop zone

- Hole 11 green will be flagged as an island hole with drop zone

Out of Bounds

Hole 1: Parking lot and beyond right, sidewalk and beyond long
Hole 2: Road and beyond long
Hole 4: Pond and beyond left, sidewalk long OB. Sidewalk and beyond right plays as HAZARD- players may play the shot from where it lies with one penalty stroke added OR proceed to the DZ. Players may elect to proceed directly to the DZ from the tee at the cost of two penalty strokes.
Hole 5: Pond and right OB, sidewalk and beyond plays as HAZARD- play the shot from where it lies with one penalty stroke added. The connecting stream (and right of it) that connects the ponds is OB. Players who never cross in bounds from the tee (if the disc never clears the pond) must proceed to the DZ. Players may elect to proceed directly to the DZ from the tee at the cost of two penalty strokes. If a shot crosses or hits in bounds and comes to rest in the OB area, players may play from the last place they were in bounds. Shots that come to rest in the Hazard area must be played from where they lie with a penalty stroke added.
Hole 6:
RED TEE: Flags and beyond right are OB, area in between flags is OB, sidewalk and beyond is OB, surrounded by water OB (on the island). OB drives may be played from the place where they were last in bounds or from the DZ. Players may elect to proceed directly to the DZ from the tee at the cost of two penalty strokes.
BLUE TEE: Flags and beyond right are OB, area in between flags is OB, sidewalk and beyond is OB, surrounded by water OB (on the island). OB drives play from the place where they were last in bounds. After the initial drive, OB shots can be played from where they were last in bounds OR from the DZ.
Hole 8: Flags and beyond right OB (at the ditch near the green), road and beyond left OB. Pond OB. Casual relief from construction equipment on the left
Hole 9: Double Mando between the two marked trees- drives that miss the mandatory proceed to the DZ with one penalty stroke added
Hole 10: Fence and beyond OB (as marked by concrete), sidewalk and beyond OB, concrete mulched area bordering the wall OB
Hole 11: Sidewalk and beyond OB, area between flags OB. OB shots may play from the last place in bounds or from the DZ
Hole 12: Drive must cross the first sidewalk, area between teepad and sidewalk in from of teepad is OB. Drives that never cross in bounds proceed to the DZ, otherwise play last place in bounds. Sidewalk and beyond OB left, Painted line and beyond OB, wall and beyond left OB, water and beyond OB
Hole 13: Sidewalk and beyond OB, water and beyond OB
Hole 14: Sidewalk and beyond play as HAZARD- play the shot from where it lies with one penalty stroke added OR proceed to the DZ. Pond OB. OB drives may play from last place in bounds or proceed to the DZ. Players may elect to proceed directly to the DZ from the tee at the cost of two penalty strokes.
Hole 15: Sidewalk and beyond OB
Hole 16: Sidewalk and beyond OB, Pond OB
Hole 17: Sidewalk and beyond OB, Concrete wall and beyond OB
Hole 18:
RED TEE: Sidewalk and beyond right OB, concrete and beyond left OB. Shots that do not cross in bounds proceed to DZ
BLUE TEE: Pond OB, parking lot long OB, sidewalk OB. The grassy area between the pond and the sidewalk on the far right side of the pond is OB. The left side grassy area will play as in bounds (for B POOL ONLY, Round 2). Players who throw OB off the tee may play from the last place they were in bounds or may choose to proceed to the marked DZ. Players may elect to proceed directly to the marked DZ from the tee at the cost of two penalty strokes.

Tournament Day

- Players Pack for all Amateur divisions will be provided. CUSTOM WORK from MVP Disc Sports and Armory Disc Golf

- Hole assignments will be listed on the Armory Disc Golf Facebook page and at tournament central near the practice basket

- Round 1 will start @ 9am with a players meeting at 8:30 am.

-There will be a ~1ish hour lunch break after last card is turned in, and round 2 will start promptly after. Check our Facebook page or PDGA event page for the exact start time of the second round

- 8 CTP prizes up for grabs for free (4 each round)!

Player Party

- Mini games will be hosted after the second round for free prizes!

- There will be a player party by Tournament Central afterwards

- Cornhole and other shenanigans for an overall good time

More Info

- Division caps will be lifted 5 days before the tournament begins and waitlist registrants will be added

-Divisions less than 3 one week out from the event will not receive a trophy.

Refund policy

THERE WILL BE A NON-REFUNDABLE $5 FEE FOR ALL REGISTRATIONS

Cancellations will be refunded minus the $5 cancellation fee up until 5 days before the tournament begins. Refunds within 5 days of tournament date will ONLY be granted if that spot is filled before the tournament begins, either by a waitlist player or new entry. Entry fees for dropouts that are not filled within the final 5 days will be added to the tournament payout pool. Ams who drop out during this window and are not refunded will still be eligible to receive their player packs from The Armory Disc Golf Shop within 30 days after the tournament.
