Throw Pink & Ladies First Disc Golf present The Sparkle Open
About this tournament
Throw Pink & Ladies First Disc Golf are happy to present the 2nd Annual Sparkle Open! If you attended our first Sparkle Open you know it was a magical time at a magical place, and while we loved that event and the happiness it brought, we are going in a bit of a different direction for the 2nd Annual Sparkle Open.
General information: 2 rounds of 20 holes, all baskets will be in the short settings. Check in 8:15-8:50, followed by player meeting, group photo and tee off at 9:30 am
The 2nd Annual Sparkle Open will produce maximum fun, which is one reason we decided to make it an unsanctioned fundraiser event.
First lets talk about the Fun: Since we are so close to Halloween there will be a costume contest at the Sparkle Open, and even though costumes are not required to play they are strongly encouraged. If costumes aren't your thing (we totally understand if they aren't) you will be required to have some sort of sparkles in your attire (sparkly shoe laces, sparkly hats, sparkly shoes, sparkles in your top, sparkly headband etc)
Second, let's talk more about Fun...Fundraising! We are partnering with Throw Pink in an effort to help contribute to a women's health focused charity. The charity we have chosen is Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome Awareness Association http://www.pcosaa.org/about-pcosaa/ . 1 and 10 women suffer from PCOS and may not even know it, one of the main goals of PCOSAA is to increase the awareness of PCOS. PCOS is a silent syndrome that can increase a women's risk for diabetes, heart disease, weight gain, infertility and depression. For women with PCOS disc golf can be a great activity to help ease & manage some of the symptoms of this syndrome.
Third, swag and payout! All Pro Divisions will be playing for cash. All Amateur divisions will receive a players pack which includes a Throw Pink Disc as well as a Ladies First Disc Golf Apparel item. Even though this is not a PDGA event the payout structure will be in line with PDGA guidlines, paying out at least 40% of the field. Pro division players who place in the top 40% of their division will be paid in cash, Amateur division players will be paid in funny money which is valid for Ladies First Disc Golf.
Lunch is not included with your entry fee, but we will be working with a local pub to provide a delicious and affordable lunch option.
First place trophies will be awarded to all divisions with 3 or more players in them
WAIT!!! Back to the FUN! The Trick or Treat Bag, all players will get 1 pull from the Trick Or Treat Bag with their entry fee. You may pull a treat such as a prize, subtract a stroke from a hole, mulligan, ticket for an entry to win a cool prize like a basket or bag. Or maybe you will pull a trick like throw with your opposite hand, tee off blindfolded on a hole, add a stroke, a silly prize etc! Additional entries to the Trick or Treat Bag will be $5 ea or 3 for $10. 100% of the funds raised by the Trick or Treat Bag will go to PCOSAA.
Junior Players will receive a players pack and be playing for a trophy only, no additional payouts for junior divisions will be offered.
