The organizing team is getting so excited and ready for everyone to come to town and compete at this year's Northern Ontario Championship!


There are a few points I want to go over for everyone as we get closer to this event.


Schedules


Attached to this email you can find the schedule for this year's event! This year we will be having a Players Gathering at Canvas Brewery on Friday, October 13th from 7-10 pm. We are super excited and thankful that Canvas is opening its doors for us and allowing us to use its event space for our player's party this year! We will also be doing our check-in at Canvas during the player event and if you are unable to attend you will be able to get your player's pack on Sunday at Huntsville Downs or Wolf Tracks depending on your Pool.


Practice Rounds


This year we are looking to have all courses set up and prepared for practice rounds and in the tournament layouts by Wednesday, October 11th. This year we will be having 3 different courses being used so please make sure to double check your pool and what courses you are playing. Wolf Tracks @ Bondi will be offering its tournament deal to players again on Friday where practice rounds are only $10! Huntsville Downs will be open to the Public on Thursday starting at noon and will also be open all Friday starting at 9 a.m. When practicing at the course please be respectful of the property and staff there and show them how amazing disc golf is so they will be willing to allow us to use the property for years to come!


Player's Party


As previously stated this year’s Player’s Party will be held on FRIDAY evening at CANVAS Brewery in Huntsville. Join us from 7-10 p.m. to pick up your player’s pack and enjoy everything Canvas has to offer! Join organizers, fellow players, and family & friends for an evening of fun, food, and drink before the competition begins.


Course Changes


This year we will be having course changes to Limberlost and Wolf Tracks. Wolf Tracks will be playing as its natural 18-hole layout instead of the 21-hole layout it was last year while Limberlost, due to a wedding on the property, Holes 14 and 15 will be removed from the Layout. In place of 14 and 15, we will be having Holes A and B that will be played after hole 18, and will be sharing more about these holes at a later date. As well as Limberlost Hole 11 will also be played from the shared longer tee pad for safety reasons.


Raffle


Our raffle has now grown to over $2000 dollars in value and it continues to grow due to all the amazing donations we have received from Local Huntsville businesses. Tickets are now available for purchase via E-transfer to [email redacted] with the password NOC2023. You can find some of our prizes listed on the attached graphic and we will be updating it as more prizes come in!

Hey TDs! Just wanted to thank you for an amazing event. I tend to have fun playing basically anywhere, so I was hoping that there would be something special about this event that warranted making the 5ish hour trek compared to playing somewhere more local. You definitely delivered on that; I had a blast, and wanted to give a few special shoutouts for things that were especially appreciated:

1) The entire HVD layout. I adored this course and would love to play it again. From the caddie book, my impression is that a) this was a brand new course and b) you designed it yourselves. That is a major accomplishment just in itself, and I can’t imagine how much work went into that aspect alone. It was also a resounding success to my mind, and an absolute highlight of the tournament.

2) The early posting of projected tee times for Saturday. I can’t express how much I appreciated having tentative tee times at least a week in advance, since it made travel logistics so much easier. Lots of tournaments only get player times out like 2-3 days in advance, which makes for last-minute scrambling. These early projections were a breath of fresh air and highly commendable.

3) The temp holes at Limberlost. These were a great use of space, challenging in a fun way, and it was really cool to have something unique for the tournament on the course. (I realize they were also something of a necessity because of the wedding on the premises, but I thought they turned out very well regardless).

4) I thought the inclusion of toques for a Northern tournament in the late season was a fun, flavourful choice. They’re certainly nice and warm, and I saw plenty of folks wearing them. Will definitely be part of my outfit for winter golf this off season.
