1 round of play
The Mesmerize is a PDGA Sanctioned B tier event at Kelley Park in San Jose. The course has recently been updated to have cement tee pads and the layout is now a 21 hole course. The Mesmerize in Spring is amazing, showing off the lush green orchard. The theme of this event accentuates my love/obsession of Aliens and the artwork for the event is always from the creative unique mind of Jef Wind. Like last year we will hold 2 pools to maximize the amount of players the event can hold. We will play one round of 21 holes a day over the 2 days of the weekend (April 1-2). Pools will switch who plays first. One pool will be mostly the pro field and the large AM1 field, the other will be mostly the am pools. With this format there will be some opportunity for the whole tourney to come together in the time between pools. This tourney is presented by Legacy Discs and we are so thankful to get some of the best crafted discs by the hardest working family in Disc Golf (the Rico's) for the player package. This year our Am players will be getting their script payout on sight at the close of the tourney from Leonard Muise and his traveling disc shop. We thank our Club the Silicon Valley Disc Golf Club for all they do to maintain this gem of a course. We also are so grateful for the efforts of Jef Wind for making our swag so cool and providing the most unique crafted trophies you will get in any event.
Welcome disc golfers to the Mesmerize presented by Legacy Discs 2023! We are excited about this year’s event! Freddy Rodriguez led the Silicon Valley Disc Golf Club in building cement tee pads, including new short and in some cases long tees for the course. We have also made the 3 new holes permanent and updated the hole numbering from 1-21. Our title sponsor Legacy Discs is setting us up with great stuff for the AM player package, and this year Leonard Muise will bring his Whirlwind Disc Golf store for AM payout on sight!
Pools:
We will again break into two pools and have shotgun starts for each pool. Pool A will have these divisions: FA1, MA40, MA50, MA60, MA2, FA2
Pool B will have these divisions: MPO, FPO, MP40, MP50, MP60, MA1
Saturday April 1 Pool A will have the early morning start (9am). There will be a brief player meeting at 8:45 and then players will head to their starting holes and wait for the 2-minute signal (8:58) and the start signal at 9am. Players will complete all 21 holes and come off the course.
Pool B will get the course after Pool A finishes. There will be a little time to practice some holes before a brief player meeting (this is an estimate, but I believe it will be around 12:30). We will hope to have a 12:45 start for Pool B on Saturday April 1. Again, there will be a signal at 2 minutes and also at the start.
Sunday the pools switch time slots. Pool B will begin at 8:45! Again, it will be a shotgun start. Awards for pool B will take place on sight after the round so stick around when you finish. This also includes MA1 players who earn script. The script payout will be right after awards on sight.
Pool A will begin their final round at the estimated time of 12:30 (Sunday April 2). At the end of pool A’s play on Sunday, awards for podium finishers will take place, and then script payout will follow.
Check in Procedure:
Pool A-
Lot should be open before 8, but we will set up and be ready to check in at 8 am. When you arrive come by to check in and collect your player package (Polo shirt, socks, and a disc is the Am player package). Once checked in you are free to warm up until the brief player meeting.
Pool B-
Get to the course by 11:00 for check in. MA1 will get the full player packs, and we fundraised for Pros to get socks this year, so come get those when you check in. Once play for pool A is done the course is yours to warm up before a brief player meeting around 12:30. We are hoping to begin play at 12:45.
