lines.
Hole 3 - NO OB. Please wait for hole 4 players to tee.
Hole 4 - OB on left and right as marked by white line.
Hole 5 - NO OB
Hole 6 - OB across white line left and long of basket. OB
across white line around pond. Any TEE SHOT
that lands OB MUST go to the drop zone.
Normal OB rules apply for all subsequent shots.
Hole 7 - OB across white line right of hole.
Hole 8 - OB across white line/fence on right.
Hole 9 - ISLAND HOLE! Any DRIVE not landing in the
island MUST proceed to the drop zone. Any
subsequent shot OB plays normal OB rules.
Hole 10 - Triple Mando!! All shots must pass below the top
and inside the posts on the left and right. If
Mando is missed players may re-tee or proceed
to either drop spot. If mando is missed from drop
spot, players must rethrow until the mando is
made.
Hole 11 - OB long of basket marked by white line.
Hole 12 - NO OB
Hole 13 - OB left, right and beyond basket as marked by white line.
Hole 14 - OB left as marked by white line. OB in pond as
marked by white line. All DRIVES that land OB
MUST proceed to drop spot. All subsequent
throws that land OB, play normal OB rules.
Hole 15 - OB way right across white line on hole 14.
Hole 16 - Mando right of marked tree. If Mando is missed proceed to drop zone.
Hole 17 - OB left of basket in bamboo as marked by white line.
Hole 18 - OB left, right and beyond basket as marked by
white line. OB in pond as marked by white line.
Any tee shot that lands OB MAY go to drop zone
or play from last spot in bounds. From drop
zone, normal OB rules apply.

Just a heads up for anyone not familiar with the area. If you need food, gas, hotel or anything like that it is safer to go towards Millington. Memphis can be very dangerous if you don’t know where you are or at night. The bass pro shop is really cool in the pyramid but I would not recommend going at night. If you plan to go to Beale street I recommend parking at the Peabody Hotel and staying on Beale. The FedEx forum is also a great place to park for events. Arlington has a really fun masters skill set course. Valentine park has a fun par 3 course. Orgill has two courses one that is pro level (lakeside) and OG that is par 3 golf. The forest has two courses right down the road from the hill there just isn’t good cell service but it is safe. They also have a campground but again not great cell service. Millington has a couple of campgrounds that are nice and safe. I would not stay in the campgrounds in West Memphis. Yall be safe and have a blast! My plan was to attend after the tournament was back on… with the recent events and impact in my area with the hurricane, we have so much damage to our home and area, me attending looks unlikely. We may not have power at our home for weeks as we are very remote and rural..
Am I able to withdraw and not be penalized as of this moment ?

I received my registration refund, thanks Tyler.

How are folks moving forward in an effort to recoup travel expenses? I immediately cancelled my travel plans once JRay announced the cancellation. My flight, rental car and VRBO were non-refundable. Four days later, when it was announced that the event was back on, I went and tried to rebook everything but the flight had more than tripled in cost and the VRBO was no longer available so I’m not able to get to Memphis. I’m pleased to get my registration fee back but I’m still out almost $2K. I’ve chatted via email with both the PDGA and Dynamic Discs, both of whom do not want to discuss my losses but rather wish to celebrate the now “on” event. I’m happy for all those who were able to make it happen but I do think there are a number of people who have suffered significant losses. I can’t imagine a small claims action in civil court would be worth my while. Any thoughts?

Hello Disc Golfers,

You're receiving this email as an official update on the Bud Hill Masters. As some of you may have heard, this event is back on! For those that don't know me, I am Matt Loyd (#40462) and I will be the new tournament director for this event. I'm excited to be able to make this great event happen along with Tyler, Adam and Soar Disc Golf. Thanks to Bud Hill and the Daniels family for entrusting us to take over this event. Below is some new information I wanted to share with you.

1. We have the funding for all the money (Including sponsorship money, added cash and t-shirt money) to be able to pay out the event just as it was originally going to happen. This is because of a VERY GENEROUS donation from Tyler Searle, Adam Searle and their company Soar Disc Golf. Those guys stepped up in a big way to make this event happen. Adam will be at the event to vend, so if you see him, go buy a disc or two.

2. We know many people have requested a refund. If you would like to still play, you can simply go to www.discgolfscene.com/budhill to cancel your refund request. If you still want to be refunded, we will start processing refunds on Monday 9/23. We hope to have all the refunds processed by Wednesday 9/25. If you do not have your refund by then, please reach out to myself or [email redacted]

3. We will be sending out more details as the event approaches including OB sheets, projected payout, etc. Keep an eye out for those.

4. Tyler and I have agreed to take on an A Tier on 4 weeks notice with an already packed schedule. We ask for a little lenience and patience as this event nears. This event may not have the same OBs, tee time schedule, assets, etc as it has in the past. Please forgive us and we promise to be more prepared for next year. But, together with the Daniels we promise to deliver you the best event possible.

I am currently working at the Tim Selinske US Masters for my full time job as Operations and Logistics Manager for the PDGA but I will get back to everyone as soon as possible. Good evening well shit it’s two am and I just got done watching smashboxx and I have to commend everyone who had insights and thoughts that needed to be explained…. I appreciate it tremendously… Tyler I’ve have thrown in your tournaments down in Fla and I was always impressed by the fact it was so well run and smooth .. I kinda know JRay and was shocked and of course I felt betrayed and reacted in a manner abt things in that manner which was hastily on my part cuz he is a stand up dude who made a mistake however they were big ones .. I’m just for one glad he is alive and owning up to it in however way he can … I want my 275 entry fee to be donated to bud hill in spirit of the sport cuz of people like you Tyler and I know there are many of you out there that have love for the sport as I among many have .. sorry I can’t make it this year but definitely will be there next year and I wish all the success to everyone involved and to the Daniel’s I’m so happy for yall to be able to have this continued… much love to all and sorry to those I offended by reacting hastily… good night

First, no money was spent on my medical bills, there were no fishing trips. When that post was made I was in a very dark place trying to find my way out and some kind of way to salvage this. People started getting worried because I wasn’t answering my phone and I lied and said I was fishing. I was not. I was hiding in a state park in Indiana.
Bud Hill Masters is a Grass Roots Disc Golf event. It has never been sponsored or connected to Dynamic Discs in any way other than some raffle donations that were paid for through my allotment as a sponsored player.

I am not an employee of Dynamic Discs. I have spent more than a decade representing them as an independent contractor, a sponsored player and promoter of disc golf. I have never received a paycheck, health insurance, 401K or the like during my relationship with them.
This is my doing and my responsibility alone. It wasn’t Bud Hill, it wasn’t Dynamic Discs or anyone else. This is all on me.

I am forever grateful for the relationships I have cultivated over the last 12 years. I’m embarrassed and ashamed it has come to this and I have hurt and betrayed so many. It was never my intention and I am eternally sorry to the players, staff, Memphis Disc Golf and Bud Hill.

I have sold my inventory and we will have some clarity and resolution shortly.

Masters players. I am broken and embarrassed to have to tell you all this. I am cancelling the 2024 Masters at Bud Hill.

I tried every way I could think of the salvage this and I alone am responsible. I used masters money to fund events and vending fees in the beginning of the season after not working through the winter. I have done this each year and as the season goes on the money gets replaced. That was not the case this year. Through some personal medical issues, higher costs and much lower participation in our sport I just couldn’t catch up. It has been a horrible financial year. Bad enough that I’m having to file for bankruptcy.

I am beyond embarrassed and broken that I’m letting so many friends and loved ones down. This has nothing to do with the Daniels or Bud Hill. This is on me.

I want you all to know that I will repay every one of you but it won’t happen overnight. I’m working on liquidating my inventory and will begin refunding when that happens. It will not cover everyone but I will continue getting them out as quickly as I can.

Once again I am so sorry that this has happened. I love the Masters and all of you. I know feelings will vary, but I accept responsibility for my mistakes and I hope that you can forgive me.
