This event is intended to bring attention to Huntington's disease. Money rasied during the event will be donated further Huntington's Disease research.
Why Huntington's disease?
Taken from the Huntington's Disease Society of America website:
Huntington’s Disease (HD) is a fatal genetic disorder that causes the progressive breakdown of nerve cells in the brain. It deteriorates a person’s physical and mental abilities during their prime working years and has no cure. HD is known as the quintessential family disease because every child of a parent with HD has a 50/50 chance of carrying the faulty gene. Today, there are approximately 30,000 symptomatic Americans and more than 200,000 at-risk of inheriting the disease.
Many describe the symptoms of HD as having ALS, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s – simultaneously.
It hits close to home for me, as my sister lost her battle with HD last year. My mother also had HD and passed away in 2001. While I have been tested and do not carry the HD gene, there are many families out there who are still battling each and every day with the struggles that HD presents. Hosting an event in her name allows me to not only honor her, but also contribute to supporting research in order to find a cure for this disease.

We are planning on having several raffle items and a basket toss in order to raise additional funds for this cause. Please consider brining some additional funds to help support our efforts.
