The Fourth Jacques Duhon Memorial Match Play Championships
Staff
About this tournament
This event honors our friend and club-mate Jacques Duhon - friendship and fresh air in his name!
This is the fourth year of this event, a match play single-elimination bracket style tournament for San Francisco Disc Golf Club members. Of the $20 entry fee, 50% goes to a yet-to-be-determined charity, and the other 50% goes to payout (payouts to be determined after registration closes). While this tournament does have a monetary prize, the main goals of this tournament are to celebrate Jacques life and to encourage camaraderie among club members.
You MUST be a club member to participate in this event. You can become an SFDGC member using the clicking the link below:

All registrants will be seeded on a scale of 0 to 7 based off of their SFDGC Weekly handicaps, PDGA rating, and/or general eye test of the Seeding Committee^. There will then be a random draw, with seedings equally dispersed throughout four quadrants of the bracket.
Once the bracket is set, play begins! Schedule your match with your opponent at any mutually agreed upon course. Though it should be noted that your seeding is based on an 18-hole playing format, so it is highly recommended that you play your match over 18 holes.
Here are the rules for The Fourth JDMMPCs:
1. Players are expected to schedule and play their matches with intent. If A) you are the last match in a round to play or B) your matchup has been set for over one month, you will be placed On The Clock (we will be much stricter with A, and have leniency with B based on how many other matchups remain in a round).
If a matchup is On The Clock, then they have two weeks to play their match. If the match has not been played at the end of those two weeks, then the winner of the match will play their next match seeded one tier lower than their tournament seeding. For example, a 2-seed would play their next matchup as a 1-seed.
2. If two players cannot agree on where the match will be played, then the match will be played at Golden Gate Park Disc Golf Course. All specific hole rules should be established before play on a hole begins.
3. All matches will use PDGA Match Play rules, with minor exceptions: https://www.pdga.com/rules/official-rules-disc-golf/appendix-a
Exception I: A.04.A - Players will begin with a starting score equal to that of their seeding for a tournament. For example, if a 4 seed plays a 2 seed, the 4 seed starts with a lead of 2 holes.
Exception II: A.02.B - The player with the higher seed (the player who begins with a lead) will tee off first. On all subsequent holes, the player who won the previous hole throws first. Ties do not change the throwing order.
Exception III: A01.C - It is recommended and encouraged for matchups to group with another matchup, but not necessary. Matchups may be contested alone.
A.06.B - Ties will be broken via sudden-death. The player who won the most recent hole tees off first. If players halve a sudden-death hole, they continue to the next hole, with the teeing order reversed.
NOTE: When a hole has been conceded, the hole is over. No further throws shall be made on the hole.
And that's it! Feel free to reach out with any questions about the format, and remember, this event is for fun!
^ - Want to be a member of the Seeding Committee? What the hell is wrong with you? Haven't you seen how they treat us? Sure, reach out, I guess.
