About this tournament
Welcome to The Challenge at Reidy Creek 2024, Presented by Innova Disc Golf & Dog Haus Disc Shop! This tournament is a PDGA-sanctioned A-Tier for Professional players and a PDGA-sanctioned B-Tier for Amateur players. Professionals will play 3 rounds: Friday afternoon, Saturday and Sunday (Aug 9-11); Amateurs will play 2 rounds: Saturday and Sunday (Aug 10-11). Tee times will be used all three days. Round 1 tee times will be posted at least 24 hours before Round 1 play begins.
Tee times for Friday's first round (Pro divisions only) will be posted on Thursday morning (August 8). Tee times for Saturday's first round of play by Amateur divisions (technically Round 2 of the tournament) will also be posted on Thursday morning (August 8). ALL TEE TIMES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE DUE TO DNFs. Tee times will be posted on the PDGA.com event page: https://www.pdga.com/tour/event/77525
We have posted the tentative tee time blocks in a PDF up above, in the "Documents" section.
This event is a USDGC/TPWDGC qualifier, with two invitations available to the United States Disc Golf Championship for players in the MPO division and one invitation to the Throw Pink Women's Disc Golf Championship for a player in the FPO division. For more information on these events, go to https://usdgc.com/
This event is part of the So Cal Series, with players earning points towards year-end cash prizes (for Pros) and merchandise prizes (for Ams). To avoid the $5 non-So Cal member fee, join So Cal at: https://www.discgolfscene.com/tournament/2024_So_Cal_Disc_Golf_Club_Membership
Let's acknowledge the elephant in the room: For the first time since it's inception in 2011, The Challenge is not being held at Goat Hill. We wanted to hold it there, but the combination of delays, price increases and restrictions on course set-up led to OUR decision at a late date to seek a new venue. Instead, we're holding The Challenge at Reidy Creek, a course that is eager to have us and that is working with us to provide a fun, yet challenging layout for you to play.
Be prepared for a unique, but straightforward test of your disc golf skills. OB and Hazard lines will tighten some fairways and putting areas. A few new (but obvious!) target positions will be used for the first time. There will be no mandatories and no artificial islands, but you will be challenged with golf shots that require skill and accuracy.
Because of the late date to open registration we are keeping prices rather low for an A-Tier tournament played on a traditional golf course. Thanks to our partners at Innova Disc Golf and our friends at the Dog Haus Disc Shop we will still have a 100% return on net entry fees plus $3,000+ added cash for the Professional divisions and at least a 180% return on net entry fees for Amateur divisions. We invite you to join us in supporting the event by sponsoring a tee sign or purchasing a fundraiser disc. Both are available as part of your registration. Contact Allen or Shaun if you'd like to do more!
We have opened a large number of divisions for the initial wave of registration. Tournament staff reserve the right to combine divisions if a division has fewer than 4 players. Any changes in the divisions offered will be made on or after August 1st.
Hole maps have been placed in an electronic caddie book which is posted on this Disc Golf Scene page as a PDF file (just above the event logo). Course and hole rules, including pars, distances, tee/target locations and OB/Hazard descriptions are posted as a webpage link below. We will use PDGA Live Scoring for this event, with all layout information identical to what is posted on Disc Golf Scene. There are two UDisc layouts available on UDisc for practice. The UDisc layouts are not official - distances are not accurate because of how UDisc uses GPS measurement based on markers you drop on the map. UDisc layouts may not have the final correct hole rules, so use UDisc to practice, but not during the tournament.
Accurate and official hole details can be found at the links below. This information is identical to what you'll see on PDGA Live Scoring:
