Good Morning Players!!

I wanted to send out a reminder that we will once again be hosting our early check in next Friday, February 17th at Maximo Park from 8:00am - 4:00pm. This is a great opportunity to swing by, check in and grab your player package so you don't have to do it first thing Saturday morning before your round (extra sleep!!!) and buy some raffle tickets (more on this later). 24 Days!! - We are only 24 days away from the 2023 Gulf Coast Charity Open and I can hardly believe it.

As we have in previous weeks, I wanted to provide an update on what we are doing as well as some important information as we continue to approach our event date.

Cypress Point Park Update

Lots of news.

1st - A team of volunteers cleared roughly 3 tons of Brazilin Pepper from hole # 8 to reestablish the fairway as it was initially designed. Pictures are attached.

24 Days!! - We are only 24 days away from the 2023 Gulf Coast Charity Open and I can hardly believe it.

As we have in previous weeks, I wanted to provide an update on what we are doing as well as some important information as we continue to approach our event date.

Cypress Point Park Update

Lots of news.

1st - A team of volunteers cleared roughly 3 tons of Brazilin Pepper from hole # 8 to reestablish the fairway as it was initially designed. Pictures are attached.

2nd - The lumber and hardware require to complete the short pad installation is being delivered to the city next week, which puts us that much closer to the pads being installed.

3rd - The city is also working a path install project around the northeast side of the course. From what I have been told it will "impact basket 11, pad 12, basket 13, pad 14". The full impacts are unknown, but the plan is that any required adjustments to these are made during the short pad install process and will be completed prior to the event. This means that the course may functionally change between now and the event.


Waitlist + Refund Process

- All drop requests between tomorrow and 2/3/23 will be facilitated with a 100% cash refund. Additionally, all amateur players will be given the opportunity to withhold refund for their custom wooden mini and/or cooler. Please note, there is nobody famous enough in this event where I can do anything with your custom mini - If you opt not to purchase, it will be thrown away. The following statement will herein be referred to as 'The Process' - These are not guaranteed and will be facilitated on a first come, first serve basis as stock allows. Players will have the opportunity to pick up these items at the Friday early check in at Maximo or have them shipped. All applicable shipping charges will be paid by the participant and shipping will commence after the event.
- Registration closes on 2/3/23.
- Between 2/3/23 and 2/10/23 all drops will be facilitated with a 100% cash refund ONLY if they can be backfilled from the waitlist. Additionally, all amateur players will be given the option to purchase their wooden mini and/or cooler. 'The Process' applies.
- On 2/10/23 all waitlisted participants will be refunded with a 100% cash refund or given the option to purchase their wooden mini and/or cooler. 'The Process' applies.
- After 2/10/23, any drop request will result in a player package only. Players will be responsible for arranging pickup or requesting shipping. Shipping charges will be paid by the participant and shipping will commence after the event.

Join us at a new venue for our annual awards and our mini fly mart. We will be releasing a limited number of our 2023 Gulf Coast Tour Challenge Presented by Dynamic Discs dye sub shirts and discs. Dynamic discs has hooked us up with all limited release plastic including Fuzion X Mavericks, Moonshine X Trespass and others!
Cypress Point Park Update

- The new pins on 4,5,10 and 12 are in place and the baskets have been moved into them. These will be the locations for the tournament.- The short pads are scheduled for 1st week of February. In the interim, you can use the pink whisker markers as the approximate location of where the short pads will be.- We will be clearing the wall of Brazilian Peppers on hole 8 that currently prevent it from being played this Saturday @ 8:00am. As we enter 2023, we also enter the final weeks prior to the 2023 Gulf Coast Charity Open Presented by Lennar Homes. As we approach the event, I will start sending out a weekly email update on some items of value to you all to help you prepare for the largest disc golf tournament in the Southeastern United States. 

This week I wanted to provide an update on the courses, what to expect over the next few weeks, as well as provide some suggestions on how to practice leading up to the event. Azalea Park:
Is in tournament layout and will remain unchanged until GCCO. Course rules, maps and layouts are available in the pictures section of the Disc Golf Scene registration page and are all accurate.
 
Pureline Park:
Is in tournament layout and will remain unchanged until GCCO. Course rules, maps and layouts are available in the pictures section of the Disc Golf Scene registration page and are all accurate.
 
Picnic Island Park:
Is in tournament layout and will remain unchanged until GCCO. PLEASE NOTE: Picnic Island has 2 baskets on each hole (Orange and Blue). The GCCO uses orange baskets on some holes and blue baskets on others to create our layout. Your layout designation of "short", "long" or "ladies" does not pertain to the baskets, rather the pad you will throw from. Course rules, maps and layouts are available in the pictures section of the Disc Golf Scene registration page and will be updated to clarify what color basket you will throw to each hole. As an example, Hole #1 is throwing to the A pin for all layouts, we will update the graphic to say A - Orange. Hole #2 is throwing to the C pin for all layouts, we will update the graphic to say C - Blue. Unused baskets will be covered prior to the event to avoid any additional confusion during competitive play.

Taylor Park:
Is NOT in the tournament layout. We anticipate moving the baskets by the end of the month and will provide an update when completed. In the interim, the course rules, maps and layouts are available in the pictures section of the Disc Golf Scene registration page and are all accurate. 

Maximo Park:
Is NOT in the tournament layout. Additionally, brand new baskets have just been installed thanks to the hard work of the Tocobaga Disc Golf Club. During this installation a few pin locations that we traditionally use were removed and replaced with other locations. Because of this, the course rules, maps and layouts posted in the pictures section of the Disc Golf Scene Registration page are not accurate. I will provide an update when this is completed and when the baskets have been moved to the correct locations. 

Cypress Point Park Update:
Is NOT in the tournament layout. 4 new short pin locations were just installed this weekend on holes 4,5,10 and 12 that will be utilized for GCCO. Additionally, we are pending installation of the permanent concrete short pads which are expected to be completed prior to month end. In the interim, the short pads have been marked with pink whisker markers. The course rules, maps and layouts posted in the pictures section of the Disc Golf Scene Registration page are not accurate. I will provide future updates on when this is completed and when the course is prepared for competition practice.
