Player's Meeting Details

Registration will be from 8:15 until 9 AM. All players are required to check in and will also be required to sign their player's card, which will include the PDGA COVID-19 waiver. Player Packs will be given to all amateur players during check in, along with an event sheet that details the course OBs and Mandos, along with the PDGA Digital Scoring link and password. During check-in, masks and social distancing will be required. Please be sure to respect the local mandates in regards to both masks and social distancing, as we do not want to draw negative publicity from other parkgoers. At 9 AM, a short Player's Meeting will be done to ensure all players understand the OBs and Mandos (which will also be posted below). I will try to post starting holes for Round 1 in the morning before the event, but that will not be finalized until all players have checked in.
So it is vital that all players are present for the Player's Meeting to ensure they know what hole they will be starting on. There will also be a $2 ace fund that must be paid during registration if a player chooses to partake. If no aces are hit, a throw off will occur at the end of the 2nd round while final scores and payouts are being tabulated. There will be no cash divisional CTP that was mentioned earlier (at $3 per player). Instead, there will be 3 all division CTPs on holes 4, 5 and 6 that will be in play for both rounds for all players at no charge.

PDGA digital scoring is encouraged, and all players will receive the info with the event sheet. Paper cards will also be provided to each card. My suggestion is to have one player use digital scoring and one player keep score on the paper scorecard, using the paper card as a verification that scores are correct before they are "verified" using the PDGA digital scoring app. If a card chooses to only use the paper card, that is acceptable and must be promptly returned after each round. If digital scoring is used, scores must be "verified" after the completion of each round. The site prompts you for this and asks for either a player's PDGA # or last name to complete this.

There will be a 45 minute lunch break after the final card is returned. There are many options around for lunch, including Wendy's, Burger King, Mr. Hero, Chipotle, and a few pubs that have great food and beer (Paragon, Beach Club Bistro, Great Scott). But the start of the 2nd round will commence 45 minutes after that last card is submitted, and the tee of for Round 2 will be posted at Tournament HQ and also on this page here. There will be no player's meeting for round 2, but players should plan on ensuring that their group has a paper card, just in case there is issues with digital scoring or if they decide to only use the paper card to keep scores during their round. They should also check to see what hole they will start on, as that will not be posted on the PDGA site.
During lunch, scores will be updated at Tournament HQ on the Scorepoint and then groups will be organized based on the scores for the final round, per PDGA rules.

After Round 2, total event scores will be tabulated and then verified. Once that is complete, there will be an awards ceremony. All professional payouts will be handled through Paypal that evening. For amateurs, payouts will include vouchers for discs and other items provided by our club. To ensure safety and social distancing, payouts will be done in smaller groups, with 1st place for each division getting to pick first, followed by 2nd place, and so on and so forth. I also ask that you wear masks at this time. CTPs will also be awarded at this time, and any throw off needed for the Ace Fund will also be going on as well. I do not plan on selling discs at this event. The only discs available will be through payouts. This may change, but if it does, this will only be after the event.

Event Mandos:

Hole 2-- Mando to the left of the pine tree directly off the tee (drives cannot go over the beach unless you are past this tree on the left first)

Hole 14 -- Mando to the left of the tree directly off the the tee (drives cannot go through 13's fairway)

Hole 15 -- Mando to the left of the first tree of the tee. This is a result of an enormous fallen tree that creates a safety issue if you play the hyzer route towards 12's fairway. The tree creates a blind spot and forces you to throw well into 12's fairway, so to avoid this the Mando here will be enforced.

These are in place to maintain the speed of play and not put other players and parkgoers at risk. Each tree will have red caution tape around it and a list of the OBs and these Mandos will be provided to all players the morning of the event.

If anybody has any questions, please let me know. As mentioned, I will try to have the hole assignments posted either late Friday or early Saturday. But until players check-in, this will not be finalized. So please be sure to promptly check-in and to also be present for the player's meeting so you can ensure you know what hole to start on.

During the high winds this last weekend, an enormous tree on hole 15 came down. As of right now, they hyzer route to that pin is not playable due to safety concerns from players playing on hole 12. So for the event, there will be a Mando to the left of the first tree of the tee to help ensure that no players get struck by discs. This will be marked with red caution tape, similar to the one's to be marked on holes 2 and 14.

If the city does get out to clean this up tomorrow or Friday, the hole will play as normal with no Mando. I will assess that in the morning, but plan on the Mando for this hole, unless otherwise posted or communicated the day of the event.

Player's Meeting Details will be posted tomorrow. The goal is to keep this meeting short and sweet with a sheet detailing all pertinent info provided to all players.

Please also follow safety protocols during the player's meeting and any times where social distancing cannot be maintained. This includes wearing a mask. This will be required during check-in and during payouts as well. Payouts will also be limited to smaller groups so social distancing can be maintained. This means that I will allow the amateur players who finish in 1st place in each division to get their payouts first, followed by 2nd place in each division, etc. This will allow social distancing to be maintained.

We also have a few players who have moved off the waitlist into the event. If you are one of those players and have not paid as of yet, please do so before the event. The goal is to not have any exchange of cash during the event. I will post those individuals names below:

Registration is officially set to open this coming Wednesday (September 3rd) at 8 PM. This event will be set up for paying registration only, and no cash-less registration will be accepted. If registration is low, cash-less registration will open up 2 weeks before the event.

Keep in mind this event moves to a Saturday for 2020, and also moves to November. So the weathering is bound to be chilly. It will feature 2 rounds of 21 holes, including the Beach Shot and the standard 20 holes playable at Sims Park.

If you don't see it, you may not be linked to the event, which happens when your profile is not verified or you don't have a PDGA # or email linked to your registration. If you have issues, send me a message and we'll get it straightened out. I'm trying to not have any extra $$ exchanges the morning of the event to help keep it moving for registration / check in.

All Open Divisions: $50 entry -- $2 PDGA fees -- $48 to payout (cash via Paypal after the event)

MA1, MA40, MA50, and MA60: $45 entry -- $2 PDGA fees -- $20 Player Pack -- $23 to payout (merchandise)

MA2, MA3 -- $40 entry -- $2 PDGA fees -- $20 Player Pack -- $18 to payout (merchandise)

MA4 -- $30 entry -- $2 PDGA fees -- $20 Player Pack -- $8 to payout (merchandise)

There will also be a $2 optional Ace Fund that can be entered day of the event. If no ace is hit, there will be a throw off at the end of the event for the jackpot.

Also, there will be a $3 optional CTP per division with a 100% cash payout. I realize some divisions have only 3-4 people, so those may pool together if they wish. This will be an all-day CTP on holes to be decided. Anticipate longer holes for the higher divisions (MPO and MA1) and shorter holes for the rest.

I'm also hoping to add a couple prize CTPs for the day. More to come on that before the event.
