About this tournament
Well this is exciting.
Introducing the 1st Annual Daniel Boone Classic: a two day, two course B tier with $750 minimum added cash and an absolutely killer player pack from our lovely disc sponsor [TBD] at Boone County's two most impressive courses - the ever popular Boone Woods, with its surprising technicality for its pitch and putt nature; and the world famous Idlewild Disc Golf Course, arguably the best free to play course in the entire world and nine time host to the Disc Golf Pro Tour.
The format is to be determined pending availability of Idlewild for either one or both days, pending the award of a regional track meet to the same venue. If we only get Idlewild for one day, then we will do tee times both days to facilitate the larger pool. However, if we get Idlewild for both days, then we will have a split pool, with both courses in use for both days. In this event, the day spent at Boone Woods will be a two round shotgun; the day spent at Idlewild will be tee times.
Players in the MJ/FJ12 and younger divisions will play an abbreviated layout of ~13 holes at Idlewild. If this becomes a three round tournament, then the same divisions will only play one round at Boone Woods in addition to the round at Idlewild.
PRIZING AND PAYOUT INFORMATION
-Pros will receive a minimum of $750 added cash in accordance with PDGA B Tier standards. More added cash will come if/when sponsors are found; hole sponsors' funds will also be added to pro cash. Professional payout is top 40% in each division including ties.
-Each amateur will receive a player pack from a marquis disc manufacturer TBD. There is also a prize payout in the form of merchandise vouchers, which is paid to the top 45% of finishers in each amateur division. The amount to be put into prizing is $20 per participant. The combined player pack and payout value per player will exceed PDGA requirements.
-The PDGA has specified tournament presentation rules for 2025. Divisions will be awarded trophies based on the number of registrants for each division on Monday, 16 June, as follows:
One registrant: No trophy required
Two to four registrants: 1st place only
Five to 12 registrants: 1st and 2nd place
13 or more registrants: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place
-Aces will be paid at the end of the tournament. The pot will be split based on the ratio of aces hit, and will include any carryover from previous tournaments run by No Days Off Disc Golf. If no aces are hit, half the pot carries over to the next tournament and half the pot goes to the GCDGA as a donation (paid once the ace hits on behalf of the acing player(s)). The ace pot is COMBINED for pros and ams.
IMPORTANT NOTES AND NEW RULES FOR 2025
-Beginning in 2025, players are now permitted to take picture and/or video and submit it to the tournament director or other tournament official for review with issues pertaining to course markings ONLY. Photo and/or video evidence continues to be acceptable for submission for review with issues pertaining to player misconduct (cheating, substance use, unsportsmanlike conduct, etc.).
-The Tournament Director must continue to enforce the PDGA's substance use policy including use of alcohol
-Reminder that all players must keep score for all players on their card. If at any time you become unable to keep an electronic scorecard, contact the Tournament Director for a paper scorecard. Failure to turn in a completed and correct electronic or paper scorecard within 30 minutes of the completion of your round results in a two stroke penalty for the round.
-Please be respectful of the local neighbors and wildlife by not littering
-Pass Through Fees as specified by the PDGA are as follows: $4 PDGA Fee; $4 Tournament Director Fee; Greens Fees TBD divided equally among all players. All other funds are used for Professional and Amateur payouts.
