Did anyone lose a mini Buzzz out on the course? One was found during the second round.

Reminder to all participants. Even if there is rain the tournament will proceed as planned. (For most of us this is obvious, but we have some newer players registered so I just want that to be clear).

Also even if you are pre-registered we need everyone to check-in in the morning between 8-9 to get your players pack and let us know that you are here. THANKS

Tournament Announcement
Just a few things to cover leading up to this weekend.

We still have a few spots open, today I removed the divisional and am/pro caps so that any division should be open for registration.

We will offer registration on Saturday morning as long as we have spaces available.

Charity Auction and 50/50
We will have a charity ticket drop auction to help raise money for the local charity Windsor Goodfellows. Please consider bringing something to donate to the a ... more

Tournament Announcement

We will offer registration on Saturday morning as long as we have spaces available.

Charity Auction and 50/50
We will have a charity ticket drop auction to help raise money for the local charity Windsor Goodfellows. Please consider bringing something to donate to the auction to encourage people to buy more tickets. We also plan to run a 50/50 raffle so please also consider buying some raffle tickets.

Lunch
We don't plan on offering a lunch. Please plan on bringing a lunch, or going out to one of the many locations near the course. The Lakewood Cafe has some food options however it has been closed recently so we are not sure if they will be open on Saturday.

OBs and the course
We plan on adding some OB on holes 4 and 10, to be installed on Friday. Special thanks to Ron Hebert and Darryl Bondy for the help with getting the course ready. Darryl was out on Tuesday marking the putting circles.

Trophies are being finalized right now. I can't say that every division will have them, but we tried to at least get trophies for most of the divisions. I (Scott) made the trophies out of Tecumseh barn wood. It can also be used as a mini-marker disc so it can be an addition to your bag!

I would have loved to come this year again. The low entry and payout isn't worth the travels for us a few hours away. Maybe next year!

A few thoughts from the TD..


For the most part, the event will be pretty close to how it was last year. A PDGA C tier, two rounds of 18 on the 'easy on the eye' Lakewood DGC. We moved it to later in the year for a couple of reasons. 1 - we wanted to highlight the beautiful fall foliage, 2 - Avoiding other events, 3 - Being the most southerly sanctioned event in Canada, it makes sense to go later in the year. A few thoughts from the TD..


For the most part, the event will be pretty close to how it was last year. A PDGA C tier, two rounds of 18 on the 'easy on the eye' Lakewood DGC. We moved it to later in the year for a couple of reasons. 1 - we wanted to highlight the beautiful fall foliage, 2 - Avoiding other events, 3 - Being the most southerly sanctioned event in Canada, it makes sense to go later in the year. So, weather could be more unpredictable as well, October is typically way more windy at Lakewood.

For the course, we plan on changing things around a little bit, possibly adding more OB to make the course play more challenging and (hopefully) add to the special event feeling. We are trying to limit the number of divisions this year, to create a more balanced competition. That said if we missed the mark and find there is a lot of demand for a particular division not offered, it is possible to change it around.

The players packs are coming together now. We have a custom hotstamp order in through Discraft (Thanks Nick Oliver for the awesome disc art), and we have special WEDG vinyl stickers, and Tecumseh Open iron-on patches. All of the value is in the player packs, so the event will be trophy only for the amateur divisions, no merch payouts. Speaking of trophies, we are planning to have them this year!

One final thing to note. We are partnering up with a local charity this year by the name of Windsor Goodfellows. http://www.windsorgoodfellows.org/ They have been helping those that cannot help themselves for over 100 years in this area, and we are happy to give them some support. We plan to do a charity ticket bag drop, and 50/50 raffle. Please bring some disc golf related items to donate to the charity bag drop! And thank you for reading this far!

PS. Thanks to all of the WEDG volunteers who have really put in a lot of time this year with school groups, leagues and other events. You know who you are! The sport is really taking flight here, and I personally have not been around much to witness it due to having small kids and being super busy most of the time.
