I saw on the post that ur “battle buddy” will be randomly chosen day of the event. My son loves play (only 12) if I decide to sign us both up can I request he and I be doubles partners ?

In that situation yes, I would make sure you were carded together. Not a problem.

Question- if I am a retired first responder (no longer active, but not a veteran), do I sign up as vet or gen?

Either. You were eligible for early reg. But you can do either now.
