It's time to close the cauldron on the Gateway Disc Sports 2022 Winter Wizards hosted by the Summit DGA and sponsored by Play It Again Sports - Cuyahoga Falls, OH.
Thank you to everyone that attended on Saturday. I hope you all had a fun time, even if the weather wasn't always ideal. The first round gave us sunshine (and ACES - plural), while the second round was windy and rainy, really putting those putters to the test. That said... all 42 teams played 42 holes of disc golf at Wing ...

Let’s go! Wake up Rainy Day Wizards!

What is the likelihood of a team dropping/no-showing? I've never signed up for this event so I don't know how it usually runs.

As a heads up, the park is in process of cutting down several trees near the Pine Tree pavilion. Please use caution when walking near the pavilion and when warming up in the field.
Also, the blue/wood restroom near parking lot is still winterized. Please use the large restroom located behind/left of the Pine Tree Shelter.

Any chance you will exempt one more team to register?
Due to the nature of this tournament, you must have a Players Pack - and I only have 84 packs. That said, teams could still drop. Check checking back, or sign up for the Waitlist to be first in.

One week from today, a wizarding games we shall play. Though the weather outside is frightful, next weekend will be delightful.
As of now, the weather wizards are forecasting low 60’s and maybe a little wetness, but the moisture percentage is trending down. Not too bad for mid-March. Wingfoot can be a little soggy in some areas (even if it’s not raining), so come prepared.
Pro tip: Bring extra socks for the 2nd round (even if it’s dry). Your feet will thank you.

Just getting involved so was wondering if there are any volunteer opportunities?
Absolutely. I'll send you a message in the next couple of days on some things we could use help with. Thank you for reaching out.

Any way my fiance and I can drop down to the casuals?. We didn't realize it was a putter only round until we reread the description yesterday and neither of us throw with putters. If not we will sadly have to withdraw.
You should be able to edit your registration and move to Casual.
This change has been made. Team Esoteric Throw is now in Casual. If you don’t throw putters often, this tournament is not only a great place to work on form, but is unique because everyone is throwing the same discs they just picked up. It makes for a really fun and relaxing tournament. Hope to see you there.
Sweet! Thank you so much! I'm looking forward to the challenge.

We’re less than three weeks away, and I’m hoping a Weather Wizard keeps the temperature warming up for March 19th. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone at Wingfoot for this unique tournament. Couple of updates I wanted to share with everyone.
- Three holes have been added to the tournament, making it 2 rounds of 21 holes with 42 teams playing. As of right now, we have 14 teams playing “Serious” and 28 teams playing “Casual.”
- We’ll be pla ...

My Dad (Tim Rath) and I will have to unfortunately withdraw from the event.

Thank you for your patience. Your refund has been processed.

Thank you to everyone for registering for Winter Wizards 2022 from the Summit DGA. I’m looking forward to an amazingly fun day of throwing putters all over Wingfoot Lake DGC.
While we are currently on a waitlist, I’d encourage teams to sign up if your interested. We’re exploring adding 3 more holes, which would allow six more teams to play. I’ve already ordered the 72 Player Packs, and just reached out to Gateway to see if more are available.
That said, teams will ...

Yes. We moving the tournament to 21 holes. An official announcement will be made on Monday. Thank you for signing up and welcome to the tournament.
Awesome! Thanks for letting me know. Can't wait to play
Nick Thornsberry January 16, 2022 at 6:19pm
Are you planning to add the waitlist to the field or leaving it maxed at 72? Finally found a partner
Hopefully! My plan is to expand the field up to 3 holes/6 teams. Still working on details. I just made a post with more information on this.

I am going to ask a silly question. It says ONLY the event putter. Does that mean for drives as well? Or keep our personal putter in the car, and only use the event putter when making putts?
There are never silly questions. Thank you for asking! You will only use the two Wizard putters you get in the Players Pack for every throw you make during the tournament. So, you are correct; drives, approaches, and putts. No other discs are allowed to be used during the tournament. Every single ... more
Yes. Based on previous years, the weights are 172-177. They just switched up the disc plastic options (see Pictures for updated info), so now each player will receive one SSS blend and one SS blend Wizard putter. We'll have them sorted by weight at pickup and players may choose the weight of each one they would like (first-come, first-choice basis).

Please note a change to the sign-up process. In order to make managing the teams as streamlined as possible, teams will be required to sign up both players at the time of registration.
Thank you for your understanding.
William Graham December 18, 2021 at 10:59pm
Does only one person have to sign up or both?
As you'll see in the newest post, we'll be having people sign up as teams to help make the registration and tournament management aspects as smooth as possible.
I honestly am not sure. I am expecting all the teams to show. That said, the weather may be a factor - plus random life stuff. It’s a low chance for a WL to get it, but there is a small chance.
