Tomorrow's the day! Thank you everybody for signing up to play this year's Spring Fling at Birds Nest, and I'm excited for the event to begin!

Checkin tomorrow will run from 7 am to 8:15. If you are not checked in, your spot may be given to a waitlister that is present.
2-minute warning will be given at 8:28
Note!! Tee-Off at 8:30 am. This is a change from previous communication. We want to get the round off asap in order to hopefully avoid the afternoon thunderstorms. (notes on lightning below.)

Several people have been out this week weed whacking and helping to set up. Many greens and tees have been cleaned up. Thank you to all that have worked! (I'll list them all in the post event email). With that said, some areas still have thick grass. Please be sure to spot for each other.

Starting Hole Assignments are posted HERE on the PDGA event page, If there are changes we will notify those people at check in. Round 2 starting holes will also be posted here when they are available during lunch. If you plan to not return the second round PLEASE TELL me (Joel Chirhart) or Kyle Harrigan, ASAP so we can adjust starting holes properly. Failing to notify a TD of a drop will result in a 888 result which knocks 5 points off your rating for 6 months.

For this event we will have our friends from Disc Revolution for payouts and vending! After the completion of the round, we will have awards and payouts on site. The top 45% of players in each division will get payouts and we will have those spots and payouts listed sometime during lunch between rounds.

During the second round we will have a CTP per card. On the Nest layout, the CTP will be hole 5. On the Perch layout, the CTP will be on hole 3. After the round, whoever was closest to the pin on your card will come to tourney central for their prize.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
On Perch hole 11 (double island), the blue wall is the OB line on the back of the second island. If you're completely over the wall, you are OB. Flamingos are in the OB area, don't aim for them. :)

With the exception of the pond on hole 1 for both Perch and Nest, all other water on the course is casual. Play from where it lies, or take casual relief in a straight line back from the line of play to the basket.

In the case of a tie in a division at the end of both rounds, the sudden death playoff holes will be played as Birds Nest normal 1, 2, 16, and 17 in a loop until a winner is declared.

Ticks have been prevalent on the course this year. Plan to wear bug spray.

LIGHTNING DELAY: In the event of a lightning delay (lightning within 5 miles of the course on the tournament Directors app used) All play will stop, mark your lie with a mini or distinct Natural object. Once the lightning has cleared, the round will resume approximately 30 minutes after the last strike in range. It is YOUR responsibility as a player to be aware of the restart time. We will do everything in our power as TD's to communicate to you, being on site in the parking lot gives me the best chance to tell you the restart time.

Scoring: We will be using the PDGA digital scoring system through PDGA.com/Score . The password is SpringAm. Two people from the group are required to keep score, one via the official method, the other via PDGA ideally, but paper, or Udisc is acceptable. The group can decide who keeps the PDGA and who keeps the other PDGA or Udisc. The Digital Scorecard is the OFFICIAL score card of the event. After you complete scoring make sure everyone’s score is confirmed prior to anyone leaving for the day. PLEASE NOTE: Being unprepared to keep score, or unwilling to keep score with other methods provided is not an acceptable excuse.

WATER: We will have water at tournament central under the gazebo, near hole 17 at the Nest layout. As always we will do our best to have enough water available but please come prepared for the round, it greatly helps make sure there is enough in an emergency situation.

I wanted to take a moment and thank you all for signing up for the 2023 Spring Fling Am Day!

We are just 2 weeks away from the Spring Fling @ Birds Nest on Saturday, May 27th and I wanted to make sure a few details were covered with you all!

We will be playing Birds Nest Perch and Nest layouts with two pools. 'A' Pool will play the Nest round 1 and Perch round 2. 'B' Pool will play Perch round 1 and Nest round 2. Details for both layouts are still being worked out and will be assessed this week and next for flooding. At this point, they will not be much different than last year's layouts. You may find last year's layouts HERE.

Temp baskets will not be in the ground until the day of the tournament, but we'll be marking the temp tee pads and basket locations within the next week or so.

Event Check in will run from 7:00am-8:30 am: If you fail to check in by 8:20am you will forfeit your spot to any potential waitlister on site.
Round 1 will start at 9 am sharp, and two minutes are called out at 8:58 am.
After the final card is submitted we will have a 1 hour lunch break then start round 2.

Starting holes for round 1 will be posted on our PDGA event Page HERE Friday the 26th by 8 pm, and again on this exact page with round 2 starting holes(Sorted by Score)

This year, first place winners of each division will win a custom trophy, and the top 45% of each division will get payouts to our friends, Disc Revolution, who will be on-site. If you are in the top 45% of your division, stick around after round 2 to claim/redeem your winnings. Payouts will posted during the lunch hour on the check-in table, since that is when I will have final player counts and payout totals completely calculated.

Here and Now Foods food truck has said they will be in the parking lot during lunch. I have heard great things about their burgers and other items, so please support them. We are not supplying lunch to you.

This is a PDGA B-Tier Event, all PDGA rules will be followed including those regarding alcohol consumption, marijuana use, and that you can not have a dog with you during the course of play. Waitlisters:

I will continue to work the waitlist until 8pm the Friday before the event. At this point you will receive an email if you get in from [email redacted], You will have 24 hours to finish registration or your spot will go to the next person. If you do not get in off the waitlist via this method you are welcome to come out to the course during check in to see if you can get in, but there are no guarantees at this point that it will happen.

We're less than a week away from the Spring Fling Am Day, and I wanted to give you a few more details from the previous email.

We have nearly finalized the Perch and Nest layouts for and I've attached maps with hole-by-hole descriptions and rules. Barring a huge amount of rain this week, things are drying out but there are still a few damp areas. Aside from the flagged dry (currently wet) lake area, standing water will be considered casual. Play from where it lies, or take casual relief in a straight line from the basket.

All temp holes have their tees (except Perch 18) and hole placements flagged on the course and permanent baskets have been moved to the Am day locations. The double island is also currently flagged on the perch course.

Due to the amount of rain we've received this month, grass is long in some areas of the course so please watch your discs. We will be out on Friday to set up and try to trim some of the worst areas. If you are available and have a weed whacker, we'd love to have volunteers assist us Friday. Thanks in advance!

Finally, ticks are prevalent on the course this year. Please wear bug spray, and check yourself for ticks during and after the rounds.

(Hole 18 Perch tee is missing flag, and Hole 11 tee is at the Y of the sidewalks). Baskets will be moved to correct locations for some holes next week.
