About this tournament

This will be the first Ice Bowl to be hosted at Abbey Gardens which is an ideal location for it in Ontario's near north. Unless there is a major thaw we expect there to be at least a foot of snow in the woods; a real Ice Bowl experience. By March 19th we will have enough sunlight to play two rounds through the woods without rushing. Abbey Gardens is also a perfect match for an Ice Bowl charity events as it is a not-for profit charity providing economic and recreational opportunities for our community. Everything we do on site helps further our mission to create opportunities to learn about living more sustainably and supporting those in need across the region is an important part of that.

Although this is a sanctioned PDGA C-tier event it is really just a great excuse to get outside and enjoy some winter disc golf and support a great cause. We will be playing two rounds and returning to a shotgun style start for each round. Ribbons are allowed for this event as 'SNOW PLAY' has been declared as per PDGA rule 813.01D. We do hope to use PDGA live scoring.

We are limiting the field to 54 players to add some space between groups and to minimize the need for some to go so deep in the woods to start. We might even stack a couple groups off the first tee just to avoid the hike all the way up to the wall.

Just for Fun Division: If you are newer to disc golf, want to show your support, and are keen to see what a PDGA event is like you are welcome to sign up for our 'just for fun' division. Please keep in mind you should know how to play, be willing to keep up with the pace of play and know the basic tournament rules. This is not a day for absolute beginners.

You are welcome to bring your own food but the Food Hub and Haliburton Highlands Brewing will be open. Weather permitting we will have a fire going near the first tee to help keep warm...maybe it will be balmy.

This Ice Bowl will be held in support of the Central Food Network which supports many communities in the area. Your entry fee includes a $15 contribution to CFN. We encourage all of you to donate more if you like through the registration option or in person on the day of the event. We will be accepting non-perishable food items.

Amateur players will be getting a $15 gift card for the Food Hub in their player pack; use it to buy some new discs, lunch, coffee or save it for the next time you come back. We will also have some prizes for the winners of each division.

Pros will be playing for cash, $20 from your entry fee will go to the payouts and payed out as per PDGA rules.

Your event registration includes course fees for the day which are typically $10.

We have Pro and Amateur Ace Pots to buy into that will be seeded with $50 from TinLid Disc Golf. These Ace Pots will carry over to subsequent events hosted by Abbey Gardens until the end of 2022. If there is any left we will figure out something good to do with it, maybe just carry over until 2023.

If you are looking for an excuse to get outside for some winter disc golf come on up to Abbey Gardens, we promise to do our best to run a great event and treat you well.
