Greetings,
Welcome to the second annual Sluice Box Sling hosted by the Greenhorn Disc Golf Club. We are excited to have all of you join us for what we hope to be an epic time. There are a few things I would like to go over as the event gets under way.
Directions:
If you are not familiar with the area the course is located at Greenhorn park in Yreka Ca on Greenhorn Rd. If coming from the south take exit 773, turn left off the freeway then a right at the stop light. Greenhorn Rd will be on your left about ¾ of a mile or so. Turn left at Tractor Supply. As you go up the road you will see the lake on the left followed by the entrance to the park. If coming from the North take exit 773 then a right off the freeway then follow the previous directions. Now parking is somewhat limited at the main parking lot. If we run out of places to park we will need to park at the lower park located on Ranch Ln one block south of Greenhorn Rd. From there you can walk the path on the south side of the lake to get to the upper park where we will meet on the West lawn.
Tournament Central will be on the west lawn under the tent. We will meet there and hand out player packs and have the players meeting. The schedule of events will go as below
Player check in and player pack pick up 8am
Players Meeting 8:30am
Tee Off 9:15am
Lunch after final card gets turned in. We will take 1 hr. for lunch
Round 2 will start at 2pm subject to change depending on timing of Round 1 and lunch
Awards at 6pm.
Rules:
I have just a few things here. We will be forgoing the 2 meter rule for this tournament. Again no 2 meter rule. The only OB on the course is hole 14, there is a triple Mando. If missed, you take your stroke and play from the drop zone located under the Mando. Keep in mind this is a public park and the public use the trails often throughout the day. There are a couple holes where we need to be mindful of hikers and such. Hole 6 ,7 and 9 run along a trail, 10 crosses a trail and 18’s basket is just off the trail. With the foliage on the trees this can make it hard to see people so do your best. We will have videographer on site making a highlight reel. Keeping in mind this is in a park so if you bring it in bring it out. There will be trash cans on the course please use them. We have a full house so please keep the pace of play up as to not get backed up.
Rounds:
Round one will be played in one layout and round 2 will have another layout. Round 1 cards will be mixed divisions with the second round being by score where possible.
The weather is expected to be in the low 60’s and sunny. Water will be available throughout the course should forget or run out. We don’t need anyone getting to hot out there. There are bathrooms in the park but not out on the course. It is likely that you could see a snake so be prepared we are in a wooded area. The gate to the park will be open by 7:30am if you would like to get some practice in. We will also be raffling off extra discs and Greenhorn Disc Golf shirts and swag during the awards. Tickets will be $1 each. 6 for $5 or 25 for $20.
Again I would like to thank each and everyone of you for joining us this year. It will be awesome. See you on the course!
Thanks
