Shooting for Eagle
Part of MVP vs Axiom 2019
Part of MVP Circuit Events 2019
About this tournament
Please join us for a fun and relaxed day of disc golf.
Shooting For Eagle will be a Random Doubles, single round event, with team selections occurring during the players meeting. The goal will be to make the teams as even as possible by pairing more advanced players with a less advanced partner, but the primary focus is to help fund an Eagle project that will directly benefit the Leigh Farm DG Course. As such, this day is less about competition and more about enjoying a great day of disc golf with friends, both old and new. There will be lots of prizes via CTPs, a post round Ring of Fire and an optional Ace Pool. Additionally, I'm working on a lunch plan and will update/follow up as I have more information.
Please Note - because this is a random doubles event, the team names are largely irrelevant. That said, because it won't let you leave it blank, let's see who can come up with the most creative and/or funny team names!
Player Packs and Requirements
In lieu of requiring everyone to throw only the Player Pack discs for the whole tournament, we're going to mix it up a bit. Teams will alternate the throwing requirement. IOW, each player will alternate throwing the PP discs hole by hole. For example, player 1 will throw the PP discs on odds and player 2 on evens. This way everyone gets to try out these great Player Packs without feeling too constrained by unfamiliar discs.

A Message from Elijah
"Shooting for Eagle" is a great community opportunity to raise money for the purpose of fixing up what I believe could be one of the best disc golf courses in the triangle. Nearly everyone who plays Leigh Farm agrees that it's a beautiful and fun DG course with lots of potential. However, the common knock has always been the confusing layout and the lack of consistent maintenance. Unfortunately, the Durham Parks & Rec department does not see the disc golf course as their responsibility. Therefore, the job of repairs and renovations falls to the community.
Hi - my name is Elijah Jones - a senior at Carrboro HS, an Eagle Scout candidate in Troop 45 and a passionate disc golfer. When it was time to decide on my eagle project, I really wanted to choose something that would benefit the local disc golf community. That's why I chose Leigh Farm as my project. While I realize my efforts will only be the beginning of a long overdo renovation project, I feel that it's important to get the ball rolling and to do much as I can. However, projects like this take money. Shooting for Eagle is a tournament with the express purpose of helping fund this project. All of the money earned will go into the course renovations.
Thanks for taking to time to read this and to all those who choose to participate.
