Come celebrate 30 years of Disc Golf at Schenley Park! We will set the course in its original layout and all players will be required to use discs available in 1988. All players pay a $25 entry fee and receive all three discs from our special retro run (Aviar, Roc, and Stingray) and must compete with those discs during the round. You will also receive a custom designed hackey sack! You can purchase the discs in advance of the tournament in order to practice with them (availability TBA).
In addition to the golf round we will have accuracy and MTA (maximum time aloft) events as well as a freestyle frisbee demonstration (participants interested in freestyle please reach out to me directly).
Since this is a throwback event come in your best late 80's attire. Those of you who have discs and such from then feel free to bring them to show-off.
We have 4 separate divisions to accommodate different skill levels and will have prizes for the top 3 finishers in each division. Prizes are being generously donated by 3 Rivers Outdoor Company (Regent Square, Pittsburgh).
REGISTRATION- Cashless Preregistration Only. The 72 spots have been filled. However, you can leave your name in the comments if you'd like to be added to the waitlist, in the event that someone drops.
SIDE EVENT DETAILS-
Accuracy Contest
Players can compete in this event mid-round between hole 14 and hole 15 in the open space by the occasional alternate hole.
The goal is to throw as accurately as possible through a square target.
Players throw four discs from each of seven different positions.
Each disc that passes through the frame is counted as a “hit”.
Specialty discs (Zephyrs) for this event will be provided. You may use your own, however they must meet Accuracy disc regulations. In brief, no beveled edges.
MTA (Maximum Time Aloft)
Players can compete in this event after their round near hole 1 and hole 2.
The intention is to have your disc stay in the air (aloft!) as long as possible and then catch it with one hand before it reaches the ground. The time that the disc remains in the air is measured with a stopwatch. Players get five attempts and the best time counts. Fastbacks will be provided and work best for this event, but you may use your own that meets MTA regulations.
Hacky Sack Contest
Players can compete in this contest before or after their round near tournament central.
The goal is for the player to display creative freestyle hacks for as long as possible. Style points are awarded and the player with the best score wins! The foot-bag provided in the player pack may be used, or players may use their own.
