The San Francisco Disc Golf Club, including tournament directors Shawn Mercy and Andy Rothschild, would like to invite you to the SFDGC’s 13th annual fundraiser tournament, the 2020 Bag Tag Challenge!
Come on out to Golden Gate Park Disc Golf Course where you’ll compete for the lowest 2020 Bag Tag, enjoy a terrific lunch, and have a whole lot of fun with your fellow club members!
Your registration fees (membership dues included) support an organization whose primary objectives are to foster a community for disc golfers in San Francisco and to maintain and improve our beautiful Golden Gate Park Disc Golf Course. Your membership dues also enable the SFDGC to make contributions to clubs and groups building new courses in the Bay Area, donate discs to worthy causes, and sponsor holes at various tournaments.

The BTC is one of the few times that the majority of our members get together at the same time and place. If you’re new to the community, it's a great time to join our club and see what we're all about.
2020 Changes
We are always looking for ways to improve the Bag Tag Challenge experience for all players as well as staff. While we certainly consider the 2019 event a success, at 250 players, we came to the realization that we need to continue improving our processes to accommodate such a large field.
Our goal for 2020 is to ensure that we can accommodate the most participants possible, in an inclusive way, while reducing the associated overhead required to manage an event of this size.
We will also strongly consider “flow” when setting the course layout for the event. We want a fun, challenging layout, that does not cause unnecessary backups.
Registration
We are moving pre-registration to Disc Golf Scene. While this means a slight increase to registration costs (less than $3 in fees to DGS and PayPal), this service provides good value and will enable other changes aimed at improving player experience.
-Opens at 6am PST on Saturday, December 14th
-Closes at 8pm PST on Tuesday, January 7th
-Tee times will be published on Thursday, January 9th
-Confirmation email from DGS includes a link to modify registration
-Integration with Paypal allows us to ensure our account is compliant
--Goods & Services is default payment type
Whether you are playing Friday or Saturday, we encourage everyone to use Disc Golf Scene to register and pay. Of course, we will still accept day of registration and cash payment. Players registering on Saturday will be added to the “Standby” list and get a tee time at check in.
Saturday Tee Times
With 165 Saturday participants in 2019, the morning rush was as intense as ever. While we want to preserve the ability of people to make their own groups and accommodate the most players possible --- we need to add structure to the starting process. For those reasons, we are implementing tee times and a few other changes for Saturday ONLY:
-To secure an early tee-time, you must register using Disc Golf Scene
-Players will be able to choose their own group
--Groups decide on a "Team Name" that will be entered during registration
--Groups can register individually or all at once
-Staff will assist individuals who need a group
--If you DO NOT have a group, enter "Standby" in the "Team Name" field
--If you form or join a group before registration closes, you can edit your registration to add your group name
--Groups and tee times will be given to those on the “Standby” list when registration closes
-All groups will be 4 players
--Open spots will be filled from the “Standby” list
--There may be some exceptions late in the morning
-Tee times will be spaced closely to accommodate the most competitors possible
--The assigned time will be the EARLIEST tee time for your group
--All groups to check-in at least 10 minutes before their scheduled tee time
-Tee time priority will be sorted by earliest registration time of any person in a group
--Including groups formed from “Standby” list
-There will be 2-3 groups early in tee time order for event volunteers

Weather Note
Since we insist on having this event in January, the possibility of rain always exists. We will play the BTC rounds and we’ll have a BBQ, rain or shine. If it is raining and Marx Meadow is too soggy, then we will alter our post-round plans accordingly.
