As we make preparations for the temp course at Battle Creek for the Rich Ayers Memorial I wanted to provide some information regarding the property, the course and to lay down some ground rules for play. Since this is not yet technically a City Park, we want to be as respectful as possible to the surrounding residents in order to put our best foot forward and show that disc golfers are respectful and disc golf is a positive option for the property.
1. The property is undeveloped and is very rough in many areas. We have cleared greens, and mowed fairways for most of the holes, but there is a lot of long grass, weeds and blackberries still so when throwing, I would suggest spotters on every hole.
2. Several of the holes do play close to residential homes and yards so if you throw a disc on to any private property, (i.e. over sidewalks or beyond tree lines) DO NOT enter private property to retrieve the disc unless you have been given verbal permission to do so! I will be going around after the event to ask to retrieve them and will make sure they get back to you!
3. Absolutely NO smoking of ANY substance, even vaping, and NO alcoholic beverages are allowed! It is still a City property and these things are already prohibited so if I see anything you will be asked to leave the property. Zero tolerance!
4. Parking is somewhat limited. I posted a map and areas where you can park. I would suggest first checking for parking at the school. They have community church services at the school so the parking it technically reserved for them. Other options are Waln Dr and walking in through the school parking lot, and finally there is very limited parking along Doral. Please be mindful of driveways if parking along any residential street! If you block a driveway, you will likely be towed!
5. If you plan to play in the Trilogy Challenge, you will need at least two people on a card and I would prefer at least 3 so if you plan to show up by yourself, you may need to wait until others show up to play.
I will have course maps and the tee signs will have detailed info on them but is you have any questions please let me know.
