The decision to hold this so-called “national representation” event in Athol is an outright slap in the face to Idahoans. Not only does it force the vast majority of residents—including those in eastern Idaho and Boise—to endure grueling travel, it also highlights the organizers’ blatant disregard for our state’s true geographic diversity. To make matters worse, there’s an event in both Spokane and Athol—which are merely an hour and a half apart—proving that the planning is so narrow-minded they can’t even be bothered to spread the events out. This elitist, exclusionary approach serves only a small, disconnected segment of the population, while the rest of Idaho is left in the lurch. It’s high time the organizers started hosting multiple, genuinely accessible events that reflect the full spectrum of our state.
